Electric Service Holds
A Big Convention
More than nine thousand persons
attended the meeting in May at At-
lantic City of the National Electric
Light Association convention. Out-
Htanding features of the proceedings
include* consideration of electric ser-
vice for th« farms of the United
Mates, improvement of public rela-
tions of the public utility companies,
careful consideration of the econo-
mics of industry and much construc-
tive work in engineering practices.
The exhibits were the most numer-
ous a,nd interesting ever assembled
liy the industry. In these electric
home refrigeration was conspicious
tied the indications are that this ad-
dition of the form of electricity in
the homes will occupy a considerable
part of the attention of electric cen-
tral station people this year for some
•time to come.
It. F. Pack, of Minneapolis, was
^elected president of the association.
J. F. Owen, of Oklahoma City, wan
'chosen head of the great public re-
lations committee, and M. S. Sloan,
of that committee was made vice-
liresident of the association and is
consequently in line for Ihe presi-
dency at a later date.

Lot Angeles, May 29.—In the
tenth Lob Angeles-Yosemlte Valley
Economy Run a Star Four touring
won in the first class and in so do-
ing gained credit for having estab-
lished the highest gasoline milage,
the average being 29.09 miles to the
gallon. The total weight of the car
was 3050 pounds. In the second class
a Star came in for laurels annexing
the cup from the Pontaic. The
weight of the Star In this instance
was 3200 pounds, and made 23.60
miles to the gallon.
