Tuesday Night
The Mother Bonner Y. W. A.
of the First Baptist church, met
Tuesday evening in the home of
Ida Beth Massey with fourteen
members in attendance.
Following a short business ses-
sion presided over by the presi-
dent, Ester Ruth Nevil, the meet-
ing was turned over to Mrs. R.
O. Maddox woh gave the month-
ly Bible lesson.
Later, delicious refreshments
were served by the hostess as-
sisted by her mother, Mrs, E. J.
Massey. The group will meet
next Tuesday in the home of Pa-
tricia Ward.

Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Chambers
are visiting in Clarksville with
Mrs. Chamber's mother who is
ill.
Mrs. Ira L. Dillard and
daughter, Katherine Elder, have
returned to their home in Grand
Saline after a visit in the home
of Mis. W. M. Dillard and Mr.
and Mrs. i!. M. Davis.
Mrs. Phil Karncr and son,
Philput, and Mrs. Doyle Hines
were Waco visitors Wednesday.

At the TAAF swimming meet held in Austin July 27 .and 28,
Jeannine Hawthorne won first in Til) yard back stroke, second in the
100 yard medley relay team with the other two swimmers pictured
above and third in the 50 yard free style. '*•
Jeannine is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Hawthorne of 304
East Hopkins Street.
She was a 1945 graduate of Mexia High School, and was an at-
tractive addition to the Mexia High School Black Cat Band, serving
as a baton twirler with that group.
As a youngster, Jeannine was one of the outstanding dance pu-
pils of Nannettc Birkhead's dance school. Her twirling rope tap num-
ber was featured at the local recitals, and Miss Hawthorne was in-
vited to many cities over the stale to give this stunt dance number.
She was a freshman at NTSC and is continuing her studies at
that school this summer.
