J. W. Robertson's ihiidren have
the whooping-cough.
A gloom was cast over our com-
munity Monday when the awful
news of the murder of Scott Wilder
and wife reached here. For many
years Mr. Wilder and family were
residents of thiB community, and he
and his wife professed faith in
Christ during a revival conducted by
Rev. J. L. Lawlis, now deceased, and
united with the M. P. church here.
Several years later Mr. Wilder be-
came a Methodist preacher and was
a consecrated and zealouB worker
for God. The cause for his awful
deed is a mystery. The funeral was
the most touching scene we ever
side and the heart-rentliiig cries of
witnesed; two coffiriB sating side be-
side and the heart-rending cries of
the poor orphan children as they
viewed for the last what were the
dearest thing,- to them on earth.
Time alone can assudge the bit-
terness of their grief but may He
who stilled the waters of Galileo
still the sorrow of these bereft
children and lift the weight of the
burden that now seems greater than
they can bear. May God in His ten-
der mercy bless them and make
them feel that earth has no sorrow
that Heaven can not heal.
