DESTROYED THEIR SHIPS.
Cheeloo Rumor Current That Rus-
sians Blow Up Port Arthur Fleet
Cheefoo, May 11.—Report is
current here that Russians de-
stroyed their fleet at Port Arthur.
The vessels included battleships
Retvizan, Czurvitch, Pobieda,
Peresxiet and cruisers Bayan,
Askold, Novik, Spallada and Di-
ana. Some of these were previ-
ously injured.
The Heet includes also many
torpedo boat destroyers and tor-
pedo flotilla.
FONCINE.
Foncine, May 9.—We have had
a splendid rain and our farmers
are beginning to chop their cot-
ton.
The wheat bugs have almost
entirely disappeared and the crop
is much better than expected.
Prof Cosby of Lucas was at
Foncine last Sunday and organ-
ized a singing choir.
There will be preaching at Fon-
cine by Rev Hall of Allen uext
Saturday night aud Sunday.
The choir will meet and prac-
tice next Thursday ni ht, the
12th, at Foncine.
Rev Cole of Allen will begin a
protracted meeting at Foncine on
the fourth Sunda> in May.
Joe Taylor was in Fort Worth
last week on business.
Charley Carter and wife of
Frisco visited Mrs Adams last
Sunday.
M rs .Joe Allen visited her moth-
er, Mrs Roberts, in McKinney
last week.
Mr Thompson and family spent
last Sunday at Iv E Bewley's.
Tom Mohon and family spent
last Sunday with his father who
lives near Prosper.
Frank Johnson visited home

the recent fire and now being re-
built on the East Side of the
square to Joe D McKinney, who
will put in an up to date book

nately the boys escaped with a few
bruises.

Three new voting boxes have
been create I, two in McKinney
and one at Frisco, B B Shrader
was appoiuted committeeman at
Frisco. The two committeemen
named f,or McKinney have not
accepted yet. Each of the com-
mitteemen for the different vot-
ing precincts will serve as chair-
man of their respective precincts
in case precinct conventions are
held, on June 4. Otherwise a
county mass meeting will be held
to elect delegates to the county
convention to be held June 11, to
elect delegates to the State con-
vention.
The members of the committee
are requested to select a place for
holding these meetings in each
voting precinct and report same
at the Executive committee meet-
ing Saturday for publication.
The candidates for county and
precinct offices are requested to
attend the Executive committee
meeting and arrange for the cam-
paign, aud set dates and places
for speaking-

here. He says the green bugs
have left and the grain crop is
looking fifty per cent better than
a week ago.

McKinney, Tex, May 10.—Your
special from Taylor a few days
since "claims that Williamson
county with its GO,470 bales of
500 pounds each of cotton is the
third county in the State of pro-
duction, only exceeding Ellis and
Hill counties." Collin county
has ginned <>2,979 bales of 500
pounds each, thus taking third
place, only exceeded by Ellis with
107,H12 bales and Hill 73.302
bales. Let Williamson step be-
low us and take fourth place.
Should we make comparison by
area, Rockwall would take first

Killing in Pilot Point.
Preparations Being Made for Ke.
ception of North Texas Medi-
cal Association.
The Collin County Medical As-
sociation held one of the most in-
teresting and profitable meetings
yesterday ever held in its history,
and it is gratifying to its members
to see the interest manifested.
Dr M oses Hubbard of Rose-
land, one of tho oldest doctors in
the county, was present, aud was
voted an honorary member of the
association, showing the high
esteem in which he is held by his
associates in the practice of medi-
cine.
An interesting clinical case was
presented by Dr Hayes of Climax.
An excellent article on cerebro-
spinal meningitis was read by Dr:
Rucker, which was discussed with
interest.
Drs Smith of Blue Ridge and
Boorman of Princeton, presented
important cases,
A groat amount of important
business to the society was trans-
acted, also business pertaining to
the meeting of the North Texas
Medical Association which will
convene in this city on Tuesday,
June 21st, Great preparation
will be made for this event, and
it goes without saying that they
will bo highly entertained by the
M D's of McKinney. The ar-
rangement committee reported
having secured the Opera House
for the association; the committee
on entertainment reported secur-
ing tho Elks Hall for the recep-
tion hall, and the committee on
finance reported fair success in
securing funds.
Three new members were add-
ed to tbe association—Drs J A
Caldwell of McKinney and ,J T
and Jas H Hicks of Josephine.
Two applications were received
for membership. The associa-
tion now has a total membership
of thirty-nine, and ia increasing in
inter eat all the time.
Denton, Texas, May 10.—At 10
o'clock lust night ut Pilot Point,
AI Smyth, a horse trader, was
shot and instantly killed.
This was second Monday in the
town aud quite u number of far-
inois and horse traders had gath-
ered there.
It appears that there was a
quarrel between three men on the
public square, of whom Smyth
was one and Cnl I licks of Denton
another. In the melee Smyth
fell dead from a bullet wound.
Hicks escaped and is now be-
ing searched for by the police
authorities.

Fifzhugh Mills, May 9.—Mrs
Lee Waldrup from the Territory
is visiting her sister, Mrs Roy
Donaldson.
Claud Donaldson attended
church at Lowery Crossing last
Sunday.
Miss Aggie Myers went over to
Enlo to church last Sunday.
Grandmother Myers of Enlo is
visiting here this week.
Waldo Chaney of Grove was
visiting at Mr Klepper's last
Sunday evening.
Tom Enlo was at Uncle Dan
Myers' last Sunday.
Tho young people of Enlo and
Lowery Crossing bad a nice sur-
prise party at the home of Mr
Lawson Monday night.
Charlie Sains of McKinney was
here last Sunday evening.
Mrs Colo was visiting Mrs Ad-
die Burrow last Tuesday.
One of our neighbors killed
fifty rats last Saturday and he
says that there are lots of them
left yet.
Hill A Webb are preparing to
erect a large grain elevator just
south of their office, east of tho
railroad. It will lie covered with
sheet iron and have a capacity of
fifty thousand bushels. A gaso
line engine will bo installed for
power in running the machinery.
They will also put up a new corn
warehouse of 4,000 bushels ca-
pacity, the old one having been
torn away.
We congratulate this progres-
sive grain firm on the growth of
their business which has necessi-
tated more commodious quarters
and better facilities.

A. H. Berry, who, since Jan-
uary 1st, has been in the employ
of R. E. Bristol at the City Drug
Store, left Monday for Campbell,
Texas, where at high noon Wed-
nesday lie wedded Miss Cora
Cruig, a popular young lady of
that town. They arrived hero
Wednesday evening and will be
at homo at the residence of Sol
Fitzhugh on South Tennessee
I street.
Mr Berry, though having been
in our city a short time, has
made many friends. His bride
is a friend of Miss Mattio
Houston, one of the teachers in
our public school. We cxtond
i congratulations to the happy
young couple.
Union School Closed.
The school at Union closed
Friday of latt week after a very
successful term of several mouths
under the direction of Prof J
Frank Bell, who will likely stay
there another year. This is tho
| third session taught thereby Prof
Bell and it is a considerable com-
pliment to his ability as an in-
structor. Mr Boll has been men-
tioned repeatedly as a possible
cuudidato for district clerk. There
aro already two out for this office
and the entry of the third would
enliven the campaign.—Farmers-
