At Naples Methodist Church
Pam Kumpe is guest speaker
Pam Kumpe, an area cor-
respondent and columnist for
the Bowie County Life sec-
tion of the Texarkana Ga-
zette, will be the guest
speaker for the Naples First
United Methodist Church's
Women's Fellowship meeting
on Tuesday, December 4.
Ms. Kumpe has also been
the host of an online pod cast,
"Daybreak Devotionals" for
the past three years. The New
Boston resident was quote as
saying, "Everyday deserves
a chance to make today count.
Laugh, have fun and love
God. So be brave, wear your
badge proudly and find your
own voice."
"Come and be uplifted, in-
spired and enlightened... and
have a great time," said a
member of the women's fel-
lowship group. "Bringyour
favorite salad or if life is too
hectic, just come and there
will be plenty."
The gathering will be at
6:30 p.m., in the church fel-
lowship hall. "This is for ev-
eryone and anyone who needs
a night out," said a member
of the church.
Ms. Kumpe said although
she once struggled with shy-
ness, she is not making up for
lost time and declares he has
found the courage through
what she calls her "brave
badge", an invisible dose of
confidence.
"I always wanted to share
my stories with others, but
was too shy. Since emerging
with a brave badge, I've writ-
ten more than 1,000 features
and hundreds of news pieces
along with my column. I also
speak to groups of people on
topics of inspiration and hu-
mor," she says.

New Birth Baptist Church
of Daingerfreld celebrated its
Friends and Family Day on
November 18 with Mistress
of Ceremonies Vera Ellison.
Guest soloists were Jason
Bowens and Donald Young of
Longview. Guest speaker was
Minister T. Monrol of Pitts-
burg. His text was taken from
Luke 16: 19-13 "Sometimes
the only friend you have is a
dog." The service was very
good.
Bro. Sasser and myself,
Fred and Theresa Roquemore
traveled to Dallas Thursday
morning to spend the holi-
days with family and friends.
We visited with Charles and
Gloria Johnson and also had
Thanksgiving dinner at their
home, with the rest of the
family gathering there in the
afternoon. All different kinds
of food was served and some
over ate and watched the foot-
ball game.
The children of the late
Verna Martin assembled at
the home of Lawrence and
Belinda Martin for a festive
Thanksgiving gathering.
Elaine and Bro. Roquemore
were among the group and
afterward, they spent the rest
of the time with Caroline
Hawkins and Linda Walton
at their lovely home.
