form at Denton Tuesday. The
loss was covered by insurance.
Decatur has practically raised
the bonus of $40,000 as^ed by

Brazos Valley Railroad company
for entrance to Decatur from
Weatherford t o Gainesville.

The Red River Improvement
association had an enthuseastic
meeting at Sherman Tuesday,
congressmen Shepard and Rand-
el! and other prominent men in-
terested in the improvement of
the river being present.
The wise men in the East who
are racking their brains over
this problem, should come to
Texas and buy a farm and get
on the right side of the ledger.
There ie a farm and an easy
living here for all of them.
The high coat of living is not
troubling the Texas farmer.
With 20c cotton and 15c hog in
sight and all other products in
proportion, he is in a position of
independence, and when com-
mittee appointed to inquire into
the high cost of living investig- 1
ate him, they will find him with a
good bank, account.
The Oklahoma Supreme court
holds the sp ecial election locat-
ing the state capital at Oklahoma
City was defective and illegally
presented to voters, but that the
state legislature can remedy the
defect. This retains the capital
at Guthrie, but the citizens of
Oklahoma regard the ruling
favorably since the legislature

ing.
The new libary building now
in course of erection at the Uni-
versity of Texas will be one of
the handsomest public structur-
es in the State. The Thirty-
first Legislature appropriated
$250,000.00 for this building.

chief materials used being steel
and brick, faced with a Texas
white limestone The Universi-
ty has an extremely valuable
collection of books, pamphlets,
and manuscripts which can in
the future
care of.
