POLITICS AND POLITICS.
The p in ary election in Dallas
county last Saturday was a revel-
ation to many who have never
paid much attention to politics,
but to the old war horses it was
only a repetition of v hat has been
done before and will continue to
be done so lone: as hopevt' future
reward prompts men tw go from
one end of the state to the other
to help boost some chcap poli-
tician into office who has a big
trust pushing him alonsr.
It was freely said up there that
paid workers were at the differ-
ent voting places in the county
working for candidates for state
offices.
We know nothing about the
pay part of the proposition, but
wo do know that they were there
in droves. At one little box in
the north end of the county we
counted eeven imported men who
W^re advocating the election of
a ie'iMain state officer who was
recently appointed to till a
vacancy. Among this seven men
was the son of an ex-governor
and the cousin of a prominent
congressman, and the first men-
tioned gentleman was frequontlv
paraded and introduced to the
doubtful vo.tei as Gov, 's
son, but be it said to the pride
and intelligence of the people
up there he didn't seem to have
any more influence than any
other one man. We know what
we are saying because it was our
lot to be pitted against these
seven men, as W3 were there
looking after the interests of our
honored townsman, Prof Cousins.
And it ii said that they were just
as imnverou.-' in other parts of the
county.
Such campaigns cost money.
Where does it come from? The
office isn't worth it, therefore
some other interest must be at
stake. What is it?

The citizens of Nacogdoches
have at last permitted the old
stone fort to be torn down. Being
one of the oldest buildings, erect-

history attaching to it ought to
have inspired the people with a
desire to see it preserved as a
monument to the heroes of early
days in oar beloved republic and

Texas Mule says this is the
coldest campaign that was ever
pulled off in Texas, and attributes
it to the presence of good times
and the consequent absence of

Ripans Tubules are a common sense, effectual cure
for dyspepsia, biliousness, heartburn, headache, con-
stipation, dizziness and all disorders of the stomach,
liver and bowels. They are intended for the use of
men, women and children everywhere, and have
proved beneficial in the majority of cases. It is not
claimed that they will perform miracles, but some of
the cures which they have effected amount almost to
that. Easy to take and prompt in action, they have
no rival as the best remedy for the every-day ills of
humanity.
