The campaign for office is now
on and this week we open our an-
nouncement column.
For County Clerk.
Mr. It. M. Johnson heads the
list as a candidate for county
clerk, and while to those who
know liini it would be useless to de
vote time and space to anything
more than a mere mention of his
name, still there might be some
new coiners who do not know
of his qualifications for this
office. Mr Johnson, (Henry)
as he is well known through
this part of Limestone coun-
ty. is a man eminently qual-
ified to fill the office of
County clerk, or any other of-
fice for that matter. lie is a
high minded christian gentleman,
a splendid business man, a faithfu
public official, having held a nurri
bcr of city offices in Ataxia, with
honesty stamped on his pleasant
face, and the people would make
no mistake in electing him as
custodian of the county records,
lie is already "in the field" meet
ing the people, and his friends
here, where lie lias lived for so
many years, predict that lie will
hold his own in Ihe free for all

Mr. Sain A. Thomas is allot her
Candida I e for county clerk. lie
has lived in different parts ot
Limestone county tor about twen-
ty years, and in 1!K)lj came from
bis farm at Krosa lo accept a po-
sition in t he clerk s off ice and
has been employed there since
and so well has lie filled the bill i
that he is now chief deputy to,
County Clerk Crazier. Mr.
Thomas is a courteous, accommo-
dating gentleman, with the experi
eiice necessary to make a good
officer, and if chosen for this ini-j
portant position the records ol j
the county will lie in good bands.i
Mis friends over the county are
many and they say he is "in the
