There is a very general Idea here
that the people of Scurry county are
not In line with Jske Wolters for the
Senate although some are going to
support him.
However Wolters had a speaking
date for Snyder Tuesday and the
cltiiensbip of Snyder began to ar-
range Monday to give him a cordial
welcome.
After conferring with a number
of cltliens Monday Mayor Taylor ap
pointed a reception committee to
meet Wolters upon his arrival at the
hotel and extend to him the courte-
sies of the city.
Following is a lift of the commit-

WMcnlng Cemetery Road.
Steps are being taken to widen
the lane from the city limits to the
Snyder cemetery.
A petition to that end was pre
sented to the City Council some time
ago and It la learned that O. P.
Thrane who owna the farm west
i oi tne lane consents to avnie a inji
full length of his farm and ten feet
wide If the city will set his fence In
and that will be done. This Is a good
move. The lane Is entirely too nar-
row for convenience or safety when
large crowds sceemble there fit fu-
nerals. This widening will five more
room and give the people better op-
portunity for hitching their teams.

By Nancy Byrd Turner.
From Youth's Compsnlon:
The eldest rode on horseback
he
was nine and nearly ten:
The next to him had learned to swim
how soon they would he men!
But the youngest was so tiny that
no one ever guessed
How a Mg longlnc In him lodped to
catch up with the rest.
Tas alwaya "Your'e too little now"
or "In a year or two;"
And even father said to him that
trousers wouldn"t do.
"I know you're tired waiting but
e musn't hurry son.
Be patient and remember you're
mother'a baby one."
The new years came the old years
went; the first born yearned to
roam;
Somehow the winding trail he took
has neer brought him home.
The second strove throush fire and
tears with wealth and fame for
goal;
The world s sccialm is In his ears
its worship In his soul.
But long sko. so long ago! while
yet he was too small
To follow whre the vision lej. to
overtake them all.
It rami to pass that g'ntle death.
