It is a charming companion for holi-
days butfordailv breakfast dinner and
supper nothing is so satistaetory as a
combination of common sense and use-
fulness. Tho humblest of us have long
lugs all'eetions sorrows nnd pleasures
and liko to bo treated as though we tilled
a place in the world. Wo want lo feel
that those upon whom wo lavish thought
arc not unmindful of our welfare. Gen-
ius hasn't timo for such common places.
It is too engrossed in tho evolution of a
Htihlimo idea to dwell upon the individ-
ual head or heartache. I'm persuaded
that this is tho reason why very clever
men and women marry those who are
considered their inferiors. They know
by introspection tho egotism of'brains
and seek an unselfishness that will nil
minister to their comfort. Intellectual
companionship may be found in books of
society but that ' tlioughlfiilncss and
cure upon which the happiness of daily
lite depends can only proceed from hu-
man beings possessed of hearts. As
there are exceptions to all rules so are
there great hearts allied to great head".
