long. Before it had even really begun it was over
and I could hear the sound of their bedroom door
close. After a few more moments, the youngest
son came down, something long in his hands. He
smiled at the fire and then went back upstairs. I
heard a few loud bangs. Before I knew it, a hose
was spraying water on me, soaking my frame.
After that I was put into storage for years.
Bad luck, they whispered as they took me off the
wall. Cursed. Beautiful, but deadly. They were afraid
to touch me.
Still, the hearts of men easily forget, and
soon I was allowed out into the world again. This
time, I was placed in a museum. Apparently one
of my owners was quite famous, famous enough
that the cursed object which killed him was
worthy to be placed in this exhibit.
Now I see people every day. They pass
by me, without a care in the world. Well, until
they look into me that is. I always show them the
truth.61
