New yearbooks were presented
23 members of tht Roscoe Wed-
nesday Study Club at the first
meeting of the year Wednesday
when the club met in the home
of Mrs. A. J. Robinson with Mrs.
I). S. McGee, president, as host-
ess.
Mrs. McGee brought the presi-
dent's message and urged every
member to be thankful to live
in a land where citizens may at-
tend meetings without fear or

Art Shop, branch shop of the
Sweetwater Floral Company lo-
cated in the Blue Bonnet Hotel,
will be held from 4:30 to 9

flown in and will be featured
with fall flowers and new ar-
rangements.
There will be a large number
of modern Chinese arrange-
ments and figurines.
Carnation souvenirs will be

Honors Mrs. Dunlap
Mrs. Mack Dunlap was honor-
ed with a surprise farewell Coke
party at the home of Mrs. J. E.
Harbison, 500 East Avenue B,
with Mrs. Alvis Mondy and Mrs.
Homer Long as hostesses Tues-
day night.
Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap left
| Thursday morning for Ida, La.
| Their future plans are indefi-

Wins Low Gross In
Women's Goll Play
Mrs. Bernard Ailts won low
gross with a 34 and low net with
a 48 on Wednesday morning,
when the Women's Golf Asso-
ciation met on No. ~> tee for
regular play.
The event of the day was low
score on even holes. A three-
way tie resulted among Mrs.
Ailts, Mrs. .1. C. Sellers and
Mrs. Johnny Freeze. The tie
will be played off on Wednes-
day, September 22.
Next Tuesday approximately
12 members of the association
will go to Breckenridge, where
they will participate in the
Round Robin Tournament with
Abilene and Breckenridge golf-
ers.
At the close of play this week,

pear here on Tuesday evening,
September 28, at 8 o'clock un-
der the auspices of the Book Re-
view Club, according to Mrs. J.
S. Schooler, president.
Mrs. Emery, who comes
through the courtesy of Sanger
Brothers, has chosen to review
"Shannon's Way" by A. J. Cron-
nin at her appearance here.
Plans were completed for the
book review Thursday morning,
when l(i club members met in
the home of Mrs. Schooler on
Josephine Street. Also included
on the business transacted was
the acceptance of Mrs. Frank
Murchison as a new member.

Agriculture Chairman
Says Labor, Industry
Have Part In Prices
OSCEOLA, la., Sept. 10, (UP)
The chairman of the House
Agriculture Committee told la-
bor and industry to "lower their
prices" if they want farm prices
to come down.
Rep. Clifford Hope, R., Kans.,
told thousands gathered at the
all-Iowa soil conservation day
on the Ben Cole farm near here
that it is "ridiculous" to blame
farm prices for high food prices.
Hope and Secretary of Agri-
culture Charles Brannan were
principal speakers at the field
day, sponsored by the Iowa
Farm and Home Register and
the Des Moines Register and
Tribune.

Revival Saturday

Bad Weather Blamed
For Airplane Crash
SAYRE, Okla., Sept. 10— (UP)
—Rough flying weather was
blamed for the crash of a prize-
winning speed plane and the
death of its pilot six miles south
of here.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol
identified the victim as Sampson
Held, 30, North Hollywood, Calif.,
who was flying the P-51 in which
Jacqueline Cochran won third
place in the Bendiv Air Race last
Friday. He was ferrying it to
! Los Angeles for Miss Cochran,

inspector, said the plane crashed
after its right wing fell off, ap-
parently weakened by fighting
its way through a storm north-
east of here.
Drive To Find Jobs
For Handicapped Is
Opened By Governor
AUSTIN, Tex., Sept. 10.—(UP)
—Gov. Beauford Jester has open-
ed a state wide drive to find em-
ployment for 5,709 physically
handicapped Texans.
