SCOUTING, MARCH 11, 1920
15
Look at the clock," hissed Hans
A certain boys' magazine contains this picture in the March, 1920,
issue.
One of the editors, formerly a clergyman, is the author of " Blowing
Out the Boy's Brains," and is popularly supposed to advocate whole-
some adventure books for boys. What is the Scoutmaster's duty in
such a situation? Some of your own scouts will read this magazine.
As part of the Boy Scouts of America, it is hard for scouting to deal
adequately with Boys' Life.
Frankly, the kids' paper has our editorial goat, paste pot, tin con-
science, horns and bleat.
We read Boys'Life. So do some of your boys. We confess to liking
the thrill. We find it fairly plausible, and done artistically. Try it
yourself. Get started. "Johnny Kelly, Author," is only one of
several good places for the suspicious to start.
Perhaps you won't like Johnny Kelly.
If you don't, tell us why!
