In reference to the Atchison & Santa Fe
railroad project to which deprecatory allu-
sion has been made in some of the city
journals a gentleman of this city who is in-
terested in the enterprise makes the following
Rtitement: The company has 300 men of
tho Yaki Indians at work under the direc-
tion of Mr. Morloy tho engineer-in-chief
grading Ordilla island and bridging the
main land to make a way out of the harbor
of Guaymas. After the feast of St. John
they will havo a thousand of these men on
the work and the auents of this company in
thiscitv Messrs. Williams Dimond & Co.
ontractod with a Party here for 2000.
000 railroad ties to bo cut and shipped to tho
scene of operations. Tho company havo
tnm ahinloads of iron engines and cars on
the way from Carditf and Mr. Morley has
instructions which ho will carry out to tne
latter to complete the road at any co.-t as
