Tho wnyii of huiuanlly are often aa
unnatural us unfeeling mid frequently
where the warmest love Is to he ex-
pected there Ih found Imdoad cold and
ciiu-l Indifference us is evldeuued by
tho following which we publish with-
holding the niiines of the parties uon-
earned. Home three weeks elnco IIimo was
conllnvd ut the city hoHpitul lu this
city u woman In destitute ulieiim
Hlauces who gave birth to a female
child which in her illMress she 1m
portuned a respectable married lady
to take and ruisu. The heart
of the lailv wiih touched by the
mother's appeal and after giving
the matter due thought and gaining
the emmet of her husband whose good
linpulses were only exceeded by those
of his kind hearted wife; eho took the
child for adoption. Time went by the
mother recovered who In a abort
while began to evince u disposition to
regain her child going about and talk
ing us though ehe hud been robbed of
It. Upon hearing these facts the
astonished foster-mother though ro
luctuut to part with It delivered the
child to her. Hut the cold hearted and
uunatural mother was evidently taken
ubitck for on the following day she
again Insisted that the lady should
to raise as her own declaring that
she could not support it. Hut the lady
refused to have anything more to
do with it. The woman wus or at least
feigned to be throw n Into unspeakable
grief and plead with the lady to take
the child back but the woman's talk
and roiid nut had been of such a chur-
ucUt thut she rofusrd to do so. In the
meantime the actions of tho unfeeling
and unnatural mother elicited for the
babe the sympathy of severul other
ladles who chanced to he In possession
of the facts concerning the case and
tiellng for the neglected Infant essay-
ed to get the lady to take the child
uuiu hut all to no purpose for though
she felt for it she wus ufraid its mother
would bring reproach upon it mid so
she stoutly refused. A few riulits
after the refusal to take hack the child
there was a knock ut the door of the
lady's rehldence and her husband go
ing to tho door found the infant iu a
buskit on the door step. They look
the bane in and learning the next day
that the mother had gone adopted it
and propose lo raine uud tuke curcot
it. Much credit is due these good peo-
ple fur this act ot charity.
