. We llnd in Tiik Dallas Wkkki.y
IlKitAi.Dof the 3d instant a lengthy
article underthe above beading Which
meets our views so fully that we are
tempted to adopt it and republish it
without giving credit to that valuable
and ablv conducted journal. We un-
hesitatingly endorse that article in
wliicli Tin: IIkhald has come nearer
doing full justice to the character and
past services of Governor Throckmor-
ton than any other puprr in the State
that we have read. Quite 11 number of
the newspapers in dillerent portions of
the State have spoken very favorably
of Governor Throckmorton in connec-
tion with the United State Senator-
ship to llll the approaching vacancy
of Senator Flanagan's neat in the Uni-
ted States Senate whose term we be-
lieve expires on the 4th of March 187)
but none of them have gone fully into
the detail of the Governor's past ser-
vices to the people of Texas as Tiik
Hkuai.d.
In every capacity as a public servant
of the people; from a Representative
from his own county in this State Leg-
islature up to the highest position
within the gift of the people of Ills
State and in every position of public
trust the people have placed him he
has shown great ability fidelity mid
untlinehiiig Integrity added to all his
other qualifications his long experi-
ence as a legislator eminently ((Utilities
him for the position of l. nited biaies
Senator; in short wo candidly believe
that Gowrnor Throckmorton from his
Jong residence in theStateund his inti-
mate relation with the people of Texas
as a public servant could and would
render more valuable service to his
State in Die Senate of the United
States than anv of the distinguished
gentlemen whose names have been
used in connection with Hint high and
responsible position.
YVe have not the space nor do we
feel that we possess the ability to do
full justice to his worth and ability as
a patriot and statesman! and will close
hviiL'iiin calling the attention of our
tn h able and truthlul article
lMYri referred to ill The llKUAI.Dof
the 3d Instant and hope Hint every
trno fripnil of Governor Throckmorton
will use their influence with their Kep-
resentatives in the Legislature to give
hini their support for that position
whenever the time shall arrive to go
luto the election.
