Wi The Age of Consent
fo Tna Statesman :
f Texas ought to equal any state in
.he Union in the protection of her
laughters.
1 Wyoming and Kansas have made
the age of eighteen the tin e at which
a girl can choose her position in life
becoming either a temptress to our
youth or an industrious law-abiding
woman.
Thpre is only one class of citizens
who will chafe under a law making it
a felony for any keeper of a house of
prostitution to have under his roof a
girl undir eighteen.
The men and women who derive a
revenue from this unspeakably infa
mous bunuess will naturally oppose
ever) statute restricting their profits.
But it is certain that the Demo
cratic party in Texas has not chosen
any such people to the sacred and
holy position of law-makers for the
families of this state.
The present legislature will no
doubt without one dissenting vote
pass the protective laws petitioned
for by "Texas Mothers."

A Word to the Society People That They
Should Heed.
We are all prone to err but amongst
the worst and most impolite is the way
society people do about social gather-
ings. They are invited at such and
such an hour but not feeling like go-
ing at the appointed time they stay
away until an hour or bo after the en-
tertainment is announced and then
put in a tardy appearance. This is a
lirect insult to the host or hostess

ALL CASES OF CNCOMPLICATID

Described.
A CASK OF UNCOMPLICATED CATAERU
Mr. J. V. McRubert of Mason Mich.
box 136 writes me February 25 lHjl:
"My wife had been afflicted with catarrh
of the head for fifteen yeaas and was cured
by taking three bottles of Pe- ru-na." I de-
sire in this lecture to show why it is that
one person afflicted with chronic catarrh is
cureu so much easier than another person
similarly affected. One person has chronic
catarrh and takes a few bottles of Pe-ru-na'
and like the above case is permanently
cured; but it sometimes happens that a
person has chronic catarrh who takes the
same amount of Pe-ru-na (or even more)
but does not receive the same amount ol
benefit. Now why is this? It is because
the Pe-ru na does not have the same ac
tion on one person as another or is it be-
cause the catarrh is of a ditTerent nature in
different cases? Neither of these supposi-
tions is the correct explanation of the mat-
ter. Catarrh in its nature is always tin
same and Pe-ru-na m its action is always
the same. The different results are due to
fact that some cases of catarrh are compli-
cated aud some are uncomplicated.
complicated catarkh. '
Bv complicated catarrh is meant cases of
catarrh which are the result of some othei
disease or some bad habit which disease oi
habit continues to keep up tbe catarrhal
atlecticn in spite of tho best t eatment.

tarrh and act as a hindrance to its cure ar

cure.
TUB CONCLUSION IS
first that every case of catarrh ol any or-

bad habit to continually act against the
treatment; second that the great minority
of cases are uncomplicated and hence of
