weather Is a little better to day for
farmers and cotton pickers. Mr. J.
H. Crawford and friends were up
from Chapel Hill Saturday and pur-

stopped over in the city Saturday en
route to Somerville to be the guest
of Prof and Mrs. H. T. Uaynes. . He

. The enrollment at the high school
Increases daily and the work of the
different grades and departments con-
tinues to take on new life.
One thing the people of Paris would
be more than glad to see set in active
working order is the Manual Train-
ing department for the boys. The
Colored schools have been without
this part of the training long enough.
It should be instituted at once if
possible.
The enrollment at- the Baldwin
and Bankbead schools is reported
good.
Principal E. W. Bailey made a fly
ing business trip to Idabel Okla.

schools. Both propositions were
adopted by the patrons and plans
were made to raise the $1015.
Another meeting will be had next
Sunday at 3:30 o'clock at the A. M.

Friday evening Sept 26th a sur
prise party was given at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kenton in
honor of Miss Adoll Bennett of Gar-
rison Texas. Punch and cake were

Rev. E. L. Jacksoo. pastor de-
livered a wonderful sermon at the
First Baptist church Rev. F. G.
Lofton made a full report of his
visit to the National Baptist conven-
tion and then preached one of his
able sermons. The Holy Rollers also
were singing and shouting In South
Marlin. Mrs. E. E. Moody was In
the city the guest of Mrs. Phil Car-
roll on Live Oak street She Is
state guardian of the American
Woodman in Texas.
Miss Ethel Black of Austin left
Tuesday for Hearne after spending
a few days with Miss Roberta Mozee.
Miss Ailean Washington has return-
ed from Boley Okla.. where she
spent a few weeks with her aunt
Mrs. H. Smith. She also vfo :n d her
uncle at Pilot Point Mr. Weeks
and aunt Mrs. White. Her class-
mates wtre glad to have her back
to help manager the Senior class.

B. Dunn of Athens Is taking baths
at the Oriental.

Alvin Washington the Dallas Ex-
press hustler has been ill but is im-
proving. Brother Murry hit the trail
and 'delivered his papers. .
Mrs. Alberter Hayse came in from
Austin Texas where she had been
on a visit to friends. Mrs. M. F.
Henderson returns home much improved.
Mrs.' M. B. Stamps called out the
Cemetery Association which convened
at the M. T. church and many reso-
lutions were passed against the vege-
tation that is now growing over our
sacred dead.
Mrs. W. P. Bailey of Humble was
in the city looking after property on
George street. Mrs. Levle Johnson
is sicklisted. Mr. R. A. Alexander
the Dallas Express reading man

Wallace was called to Ijgansport
La. to the bed side of his mother.
The rally at New Zion church proved
a success collection $20.00.
Mrs. N. A. Lee went to Trinity to
attend the association also Mrs. Car-
rie Doggett Mrs. Ernestine Dec-
tar stopped a few hours with rela-
tives en route to her home in Wild-hurst
