Approximately 250 Rural
Residents Sign Up For
Co-operative Telephones
' Approximately 250 rural resi-
dents in the Crosbyton territory
have signed up for telephone ser-
vice in the new Sou£h Plains Ru-
ral Telephone cooperative, Bob
Work, chamber of commerce se-
cretary, said Tuesday. The appli-
cations have come, in from all
parts of the territory.
Blueprinting of the proposed
lines, preparatory to asking for a
loan from the Federal government,
began Monday at Lubbock, he
said. The application will be rush-
ed in an attempt to secure" the
loan before the end of the pre-
sent fiscal year for the govern-
ment on July 1.
In case you have decided since
last Saturday that you want a
telephone, there is still a possibil-
ity of securing one, Mr. Work
said. If the drawings for the terri-
tory have not reached the blue-
print stage, the additional lines
can be added. Although the co-op
makes no promises, your applica-
tion will be turned in if handed to
Mr. Work this week.
