Robbery Suspects
Plead Innocent
At Lubbock
Two of three Bonham defen-
dants unde*r indictment in Lub-
bock county charging robbery
with firearms in the Nov.. 19 rob-
bery of Archie Skibell pleaded in-
nocent upon arraignment last Sat-
urday morning in 99th district
court/ at Lubbock. Judge G. V.
Pardue set trial date for Jan. 23.
They were William Robert Lee-
man, 22, and Oryille. Wayne Mann,
21. Talmadge Bonham, 17, was at,
liberty under bond.
Leeman and Bonham, along
with James Scrivner, 21, also of
Bonham face armed robbery char-
ges in Crosby county in the Wal-
lace Dry Goods case. . '
The Lubbock court appointed
Billy Tufcker, young Lubbock at-
torney recently graduated from
law school and admitted to the
Texas bar, to represent interests
of the defendants, with explana-
tion that Tucker would be reliev-
ed if the defendants wish to em-
ploy their own counsel later.
Leeman and Mann informed the
court that members of their fami-
lies in Bonham may employ addi-
tional counsel for them.
Leeman and Mann were mana-
cled when brought into the court
room. They are alleged to have
given considerable trouble while
lodged in the Lubbock county
jail.

class of the First Baptist church
held its regular meeting in the
home of Mrs. Alvie Coward Jan.
5. The class president, Mrs. Ro-
land Mize, gave the opening pray-
er. Mrs. Coward brought the de-
votional.
After a short business meeting
delicious refreshments were serv-
ed to Mesdames Fred Edwards,
Charlie Ogle and son, Wilton Seig-
ler, L. H. Finch, Roland Mize,
John Irwin, Dennis Robertson, E.
L. Parks and son, Sandra akd
Linda- Seigler, and the hostess,
Mrs. Coward.

Girls' Squad
Wins Cage Game
1! At Idalou Friday
The girls' basketball squad of
Crosbyton high school won their
first game but lost in the semi-
finals, at a tournament held at
Idalou last Friday and Saturday.
Crosbyton won from Frienship
32 to 19 Friday, Coach Willis
Hedges reports: Frances Berry
was high point scorer with 18
points, while Sammye Lowe scor-
ed 6 points.
In the stfmi-flnal game with Ida-
lou Saturday Crosbyton lost 31-
21, in a game that was unusually
good, Coach Hedges said. The lo-
cals put up a good fight but were
unable to stay up with the classy
Idalou sextet. Berry was again
high scorer with 12 points, while
Lowe made 5.
Idalou lost in the finals to Roose-
velt 24U19 Saturday night.
Coach Hedges is well pleased
with the progress the girls' team
is making.
