Approved Conservation Practices
For County Listed Ry Committee
Conservation practices for Cros-
by county farms for 1950 have
been approved by the County Con-
servation committee, according to
James R. Winter, PMA officer.
As in former years assistance
may be in the form of cash pay-
ments or advances of materials
and Services heeded in carrying
out conservation practices.
Farmers have only three rules
to follow to secure authorization
for a practice: apply to the coun-
ty committee before practice is
begun, carry out the practice ac-
cording to specifications, then in-
form the county office of the com-
pletion within the time fixed by
the committee.
Here is the list of approved
practices:
1. Construction of terraces ac-
cording to specifications.
2. Construction of diversion ter-
races to control excels water.
3. Field strip cropping, applica-
ble only to farms where needed as

11. Leveling for irrigation land
for which water is available.
Floating of land will not qualify.
Obtain a preliminary survey be-
fore leveling "is begun.
12. Reorganization of a perma-
nent farm irrigation system to
conserve water and prevent ero-
sion. Not applicable to portable
systems.
13. Drilling or digging wells for
livestock water.
14. Construction of earthern
dams or reservoirs for livestock
water or erosion control.
15. Application of potash and
phosphate.
16. Elimination of destructive
plants on noncrop pasture and
ranch land.
17. Reseeding, xange or pasture
land by deferred grazing.
18. Constructing fireguards on
noncrop pasture and range land.
19. Furrowing or chiseling non-
cropland.
20. Establishing or improving
permanent pastures by seeding a-
dapted pasture grasses, pasture
legumes, or mixtures of grasses
and legumes.

these practices, the amount of as-
sistance ' and other information
may be obtained' at the P.M.A.
office at the courthouse.
