"The interlocking citizenship
between Copperas Cove and Fort
Hood" to which Maj. Gen.
Ralph E. Haines Jr. 1st Ar
mored Divison commander re
ferred in his farewell address
was sealed even tighter Monday
night as 500 local citizens cheer
ed through a concert by the 1st
AD Band and Chorus.
General Haines was introduced
to the large audience in the high
school auditorium by E. H.
Rhode president of the local
chamber of commerce.
The band played 11 instrumen
tal numbers after opening with
the national anthem including a
modern rendition of "Never On
Sunday" which brought down the
house and "Victory at Sea"
which was played to a synch
ronized running commentary
on a portion of the U. S. Ar
my's distinguished battle history.
The chorus sang five popular
and traditional songs including
the ever-popular "Army Blue"
"Battle Hymn of the Republic"
and "Be Still My Soul."
Felix Sanders who lives on S.
13th St. attended the concert
with his family and could only
say: "It was good very good
really enjoyed it."
