RESERVATIONS HIGHLIGHTS
1. Reservation Highlights
1920-McMurry was voted into being at the
annual session of the Northwest Texas
Conference of the Methodist Church at
Clarendon, Texas. The college was
located at Abilene upon an offer by
the city of $300,000, a campus and
other considerations.
1922-The first building, now the Old Admin-
istration Building was begun in the
spring.
1923-Dr. J. W. Hunt was elected the first
president and the college opened in
September, 1923.
1926-McMurry became a fully accredited
senior college.
1948-President Hall was rebuilt and Gold
Star Dormitory was constructed.
1949'--Iris Graham Dining Hall was con-
structed.
1950-Radford Memorial Student Life Cen-
ter was built.
1957-The Harold Groves Cooke Liberal Arts
Classroom Building and the James
Winford Hunt Dormitory were com-
pleted.
1958-The William C. Martin Dormitory was
finished.
1959-The McMurry Indian Band moved into
its new Band Hall.
1962-The C. E. Maedgen Administration
Building was completed.
1963-The Jay - Rollins Library was com-
pleted. 2
