FFA WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT TEAM ADVANCES TD STATE: The Canadian FFA Team finished
second at the Region I Wildlife Management Contest held at the Matador Wildlife Management-
Area on April 8. Team members are (l-r) Coleman Bentley, Jacob Hamby, Emmett Webb and
John Haley. Haley had the overall top score in the contest and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship
from Texas Tech University and $200from the Texas Soil & Water Conservation District. The
team advances to the state contest which will be held in San Angela on May 13.

REGIONAL OIL RESOLTS: Canadian High School students placed 10th out of 40 schools compet-
ing April 12 at the Regional UIL Academic Meet held at Abilene Christian University, but none
will advance to state competition. Only the top three individuals and the first place teams advance
to state in each event. Individual placings: Calculator Apps, 10th place, Caleb Berry; Computer
Apps, 5th, Adilene Vasquez; Computer Science, 5th, Benjamin Antillon; 7th, Brock Johnson;
Headline Writing, 4th, Kelsey Hanes; Number Sense, 5th, Benjamin Antillon; Science, 7th, Ben
Antillon; Social Studies, 4th, JC Chappell; Team Events: Computer Science Team, 3rd Place with

A RANGE MANAGEMI:: i :AM AI NOES D STATE: The Canadian FFA Range Management
Team placed third in competition held at Texas Tech University on Saturday April 12, and will
advance to state. Team members are (in photo, l-r) Gabe Rodgers, Coleman Bentley, Michael
Ochoa and Bradley Hickey. The top five teams advanced to the state contest which will be held at
Tarleton University in Stephenville on April 24.

Congressman Mac Thornberry will
host a Service Academy Forum in Amarillo
on Saturday, April 19, to provide informa-
tion to interested students and their par-
ents about attending the U.S. service acad-
emies. Representatives from West Point,
the Naval Academy and the Air Force
Academy will give presentations and an-
swer questions. Staff from Thornberry's
office will explain the application process.
It will be held at the Amarillo Public Li-
brary SW, 6801 Southwest 45th Ave. Call
