senate committee on foreign rela-
tione today agreed to report the
lfay-1'sunoefote treaty amending
the Clayton-Bulwer treaty with
an amendment granting authority
for tbe defense of the ceaal by
this country when constructed.
The foreign relations commit-
tee is practicalty unanimous in
favor of the amendment to the
treaty. Some objection was mode
by Senator Morgan, of Alabama,
but ho will not oppoee the meas-
ure in the senate, accepting tbe
chaage in order to hasten the 00-
tioo of the senate.
Quite an elaborate report has
been prepared by Senator Mor-
gan, which erill be submitted to
the senate io executive session
