ing at one time one of the pro-
prietors and editors Of the Demo-
crat and always so jx>pular with
the people thet one election Rip
Powell only succeeded in defeat-
ing him for county tax collector
by just a few votes. , '
He was an active member of the
Baptist church at Rowlette where
his remains, were interred at 11 a.
m. yesterday. Rev. C. E. Mor-
gan of this city conducted the
