Letter from Lt. Colonel Forrest I. Rettgers informing Senator Ralph Yarborough that Pfc. John M. Herrera's application for early release to attend summer school had been denied. The letter is typed on letterhead for the Department of the Army, Office of the Secretary of the Army. The letter was stamped by Yarborough's office with the date it was received.

[Letter from Ralph Yarborough to John J. Herrera - 1957-06-04]

Letter from Senator Ralph Yarborough to John J. Herrera to accompany a letter sent to Yarborough after his conference with the Department of the Army. Yarborough assures Herrera that he will continue trying to help Herrera's son. A handwritten note appended to the bottom assures Herrera that Yarborough is not quitting and knows they are both accustomed to fighting on.
