Dear John:

I didn't get to reply/Nbefore Christmas; so I am anxious
to do so now to thank you for it. We know, of course,
where you stand in regard to Shivers and the efforts of
the Laredo Lulac fac&on to make the organization servile
to Shivers.

Senator Chavez has accepted our invitaion to address poll
tax rallies in January in each one c£ the three Valley counties,
We are planning several other steps to hit where it hurts
to stimulate^he drive during that month. One of this is
that we^Jc&tain your co-operation in cutting a five-minute
tape for radio use as past national president of Lulac where-
in you give your own views as to Lulac policy in regard to
poll tax drives. If you can cut this tape and send it to
Sanchez, they will take care of getting the necessary time
in several of the Valley stations. Be sure to identify your-
self at the beginning and at the end of the talk so that your
audience will know who is addressing them. Last summer during
the Yarborough campaign the station announcers messed us up
once or twice when they ran tapes without saying who was
speaking ssr where the speaker did not identify himself.
If you cannot enlist the co-operation of one of your local
stations for purpose of cutting the tape, we will be happy
to take care of the cost for cutting it. We will need it
right after the first of next year: so do rush it to Sanchez
at the M & J Bldg., 308 South Main Street in McAllen.
In regard to our Bulletin I am behind on its publication but
am hoping to catch up on it during the Christmas holidays so
