Mr. Qeorge Wilson, Jr., the ninth child born to (jeorge
and Alberta Wilson, was born on 'December 16,1913, in
Seguin, 'Texas, the Capote Community.
Me attended the Capote Community schools and united
with the Capote 'Baptist Church at an early age where his
grandfather, the Rev. Miram Wilson served as pastor.
Qeorge served with the 11. S. Army during World War
II and was among the historical Army Unit that invaded
Omaha (Beach on 'D-'Day. Me was recognized by San
Antonio s local media as one of the surviving African
American soldier now living in the San Antonio Area. 9te
retired from serving 32 years in civil service at ft. Sam
Houston, Texas. After his four years in the military,
Qeorge was unitedin marriage to 'Esther Augusta CorCey.
To this union of fifty one years, there were four children
born.
(jeorge Wilson never met a stranger and all who knew
him can attest to saying that 'Qeorge" always made your
feel welcome and loved.
(jeorge waitedpatiently on the Lorduntdfriday morn-
ing, March20,1998, when, inpeace, he was released from
the cares of this world, to be free once againfrompain and
suffering, and to "be "present rvith the Lord.' Qeorge has
touched the lives of so many of others with his warm
smite, charm, and genuine lave of life.
To start on these shores as Qeorge sails to a brighter
shore, and his devoted wife, 'Esther A. Wilson, and his
children, Mrs. (Denise J. Jackson and her husband, Wd-
CiamA. Jackson of Smyrna, Qa., Mr. Thomas M. Wilson
ofBeevitle, Texas, Mrs. Cheryl A. Mims and her husband,
Johnny T>. Mims of San Antonio, Texas and Esther E.
WdCiams and her husband'Ronnie E. Williams of Hous-
ton, Texas; one brother, Herbert M. Wilson of San
Antonio, Texas; and one sister, Qertrude Rhodes of San
Antonio, Texas; four sisters in law, eight grandchildren,
one great granddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews, and
dearf riends.
To preceded him in death were his mother and father,
Odessa andMattie; his previous zvife Cordia (Williams)
Wilson and baby daughter.
