OBITUARY
Deautery Wallace Neil completed a full and rich Christian life on September
16, 2005. He was born in Milano, Texas on June 28, 1920, to John and
Armonia Neil.
He attended and graduated from Milano High School. In his later years, to
improve himself, he attended St. Philip's College and was on the President's
List three consecutive semesters.
He entered and served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1949, then
continued his military career in the United States Air Force from 1949
until his Honorable Discharge and retirement in June of 1970. During his
illustrious military career he served in World War II, in the European
Theater, and Vietnam. He was one of those courageous men who fought in
that fierce D-Day Invasion in Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. He
traveled extensively on assignments both inside and outside of the United
States. He received many medals and awards, to include five Bronze Star
Medals.
At the tender age of eleven, Deautery accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He was gifted with a deep bass singing voice, and used that gift to sing with
various quartets, groups and choirs throughout the years. He was also
privileged to sing for President Dwight D. Eisenhower while stationed at
Munich, Germany.
He joined New Light Baptist Church in 1947 and remained until his military
assignment transferred him elsewhere. In his many travels he always
affiliated with and served actively in a church. Upon his return to the city,
he again joined New Light Baptist Church in 1979. In 1980 he joined and
was a chartered member of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church. There,
he faithfully served as an ordained deacon and worked in various other
capacities. He joined Calvary Baptist Church in 1998, where he served
faithfully until his demise. Deacon Neil was well known for his melodious
bass voice; his love and devotion to the Lord; his tenacious faith, as he
boldly proclaimed Jesus to all he met, whether they listened or not; and his
love for his wife.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Vera L. Ricks on September 13,1986,
along with her two daughters, Lori L. Johnson and Chauntelle C. Ricks.
He leaves lasting memories to be cherished by his devoted wife; two step'

ORDER OF SERVICE
Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the
Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary?
There is no searching of his understanding.
He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth
strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly
fall:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they
shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31
