Evelyn Lucille Taylor, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gus (Camilla Madison) Taylor
was born July 21, 1913, in San Antonio, Texas. Evelyn was the second child, and first
daughter, born to the Taylor union. Two brothers and one sister have preceded Evelyn in
death. J
Although her mother was a devout adherent to the Methodist Episcopal faith (now United
Methodist), and her father a deacon of Mount Zion First Baptist Church, the Gus Taylors.
together, sought the best education for their beloved daughter. Miss Evelyn Taylor therefore
received her religious training in Saint Paul Methodist Church, and her early academic
training at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic School. As Evelyn neared her seventh birthday,
she was transferred to Douglass School from which she graduated in 1931, at the aee of
fifteen.
