Mon. (Next pate first.)
Only one fine rain the past week,and we are fearful
that another drought is coming on..
I didn't get over-to Throckmorton as I planned.
Went' as far as Haskell and the rain keot the car from
Throckmorton from meeting me there. Spent the night'
with the Sherr1lls and preached for the Haskell church
Sunday morning but n (t at night., Visited the Methodist
church last night and fell in love with the pastor, Mir.
Patterson. Had a very enjoyable evening with Eert Mc.
Glamery-and his family and a Miss Hamilton,who is one of
'the teachers under Ee.rt, Saturday night.
.My trip to Haskell was made in a service car last
Saturday morning,and in the rear seat with me was a
lady-barber,-the first I ever saw. In my conversation
with htr I learned that she was a daughter of a barber
in Haskell and thac. when the men went to war she took
their place as far as she could. Sure enough after
reaching Ilaskell-I walked by the barber shop some time
later in the day and there was this young lady occupying
the second chair and actually shaving a man. Well,she
never shaved me,-,though I went to that shop that night
after she went home and was shaved by ier father.
I never before enjoyed a visit with the Sherrills
quite as much as this one. They had jaat received a leti
ter from Lewis which was very long and interesting, the
censorship being raised at than time.
I got a nice, "long" letter from Louis today on my
return from Haskell which surprised me somewhat since
I had so shortly heard from Rose / 7 -
