State Banking Board met in emergency ses-
sion via telephone conference call originat-
ing at 2601 North Lamar Boulevard, Aus-
tin. According to the agenda, the board
considered an application for a charter for
a state bank to purchase some of the assets
and assume some of the liabilities of a failed
bank. If there is an applicant, it will be the
bidder chosen by the FDIC Board of Direc-
tors. The emergency status was necessary
because failure of the bank would disrupt
banking services in the community.
