Exes President
Reviews Progress
Dear Exes:
Once again the opportunity be-
falls each of us to return to our
alma mater and associate with the
students, friends, and past mem-
ories of our school. Our school
as some of us once knew it is now
gone with once vacant grounds
being replaced by dormitories or
classroom buildings. The un-
paved oval of yester-year is gone
—teachers and friends of the
campus may have passed from us
—but still the same true spirit of
McMurry lives to be enjoyed.
The students of this year along
with the local Abilene exes and
your association officers are plan-
ning and working to provide a
homecoming celebration of inter-
est for each and everyone. This
year's program offers a variety of
events and will provide entertain-
ment for all.
May I take this means and op-
portunity to invite you to become
an active part of this year's home-
coming by your attendance on
November 1 and 2? Won't you
make your plans now to be with
us and invite others of the Mc-
Murry family to join you?
See you then,
W. M. (Bill) Fiveash,
President of Exes'
Association.
TEEPEES UP—Plans already are under way on ihe Reservalion for
hoisting the Teepees for Homecoming. McMurry and Louisiana Tech
collide in a 2 p. m. battle November 2 in Indian Stadium. The Tribe
campus will be in full swing for the thirty-fifth annual pageant.
HOMECOMING SET FOR NOV. 1-2
Campus Improvements
Set For Gala Reunion
Welcome Indians to the 1957
McMurry Pow-Wow. The Reser-
vation has made heap big im-
provements since the last session.
The campus streets have been
paved; Wah - Wahtaysee Park
shifted from its old location near
Hunt Hall to the Teepee Village
area; landscaping has been im-
proved; and we ha^e two new
buildings—the Harold G. Cooke
Classroom Building and Hunt Me-
morial Girls' Dormitory.
To add to the beautification of
our campus, flowers are growing
in front of the McMurry Book-
store, along the edge of the side-
walks leading to the Administra-
tion Building, and to the new
classroom building. Flowers also
have been planted near the new
dorm, and traffic practically has
ceased on the grass. The flowers
and greenery, plus the newly
paved streets certainly add to the
campus' beauty.
Wah-Wah Park
The moving of the Wah-Wah-
taysee Park proves that growing
means many changes. It looks
different although it is set up
just the same. We must realize
that by growing we will have to
get accustomed to several changes.
We sincerely hope that you will
accept the changes as an improve-
ment to the college.
The Harold G. Cooke Classroom
Building has a central heating
and cooling system, a needed im-
provement. Each room has an
adjoining office which is very
convenient for both teachers and
students. There is a directory in
the entrance of the building with
room numbers and corresponding
names. New desks also have
been installed.
Girls' Dormitory
Hunt Memorial Girls' Dormi-
tory will be dedicated during
homecoming, November 1 and 2.
This is the latest building to be
opened and is equipped with cen-
tral heating and air conditioning.
Rooms are arranged in suites with
connecting baths. A new buzzer
system is an added attraction.
Other advantages include storage
rooms, shelves, and a kitchen
with a serving window. The
lounge is complete with a fire-
place and beautifully arranged
furniture. Inner doors of the
lounge open onto a patio.
New Program
EXES! We may have something
new in the program for this year's
homecoming. Plans are under-
way to have a heap-big bulletin
board with news of exes who are
unable to attend the homecoming.
