and yearly report.
Mrs. Hilbig, in the name of
Rev, Msgr. Claude A. Faust
now retired, thanked the ladies
for all their help in the past
years.
Mrs. Arthur Goertz, family
affairs chairman, spoke on
"Parents Teaching Children
Religion." She stated that the
parents attitude is the most
important factor when it comes
to teaching religion to a child.
With the proper deep Christian
attitude, a parent can work
miracles in the lives of their
children. Without this no tech-
nique, method or gimick will
teach the child to know, love and
serve God, she said.
Ever so often parents need
to ask themselves, how do I
stand as God's messenger.
Though God could have chosen
to bring all men to Him without
human help, He didn't choose
to do it that way. Children
come to know and love God
because someone has worked
and prayed hard, and showed
them the way. This someone
should be their parents.
There are many little things
needed to help a parent be-
come an effective instrument
of God. Little things make a lot
of difference. A grouchy yell-
ing mother trying to teach child-
ren how Christ loves little ones
is wasting time and causing
untold harm to the child's un-
derstanding of Christ.
Some questions parents need
to ask themselves are, Is my
life Christ centered? Do I love
Him and prove it daily? Do I
participate in the Mass and sac-
raments often and with mean-
ing"? If not, how can I teach
and give to others what I do
not have myself? Can I be firm
with children, not mean and
cruel? Do I lovp? Am I un-
derstanding, sympathetic,
warm, compassionate, self-
less? Jesus is and I am taking
his place.
Do I tell the children that I
have a real good friend, and
His name is Jesus, and that
I want them to meet and love
Him as much as I do? Do I
know that I really teach my
children religion and its values
by the kind of person I am,
who I am and how I act is so
very important in teaching
children about God. Do I real-
ize I am the tool for this job,
and if the tool is lousy, the job
will be lousy? Do I listen,
listen, listen to my children?
Do I pray for myself that I do
a better job, and ask for help
when it is available?

4-H CLUB TO
HAVE BAKE SALE
The Bastrop 4-H Club will
have a bake sale on Saturday,
March 3, to raise money to help
the 4-H Council purchase a pop-
corn machine.
The sale will begin at 9:00
a.m. Saturday morning in front
of Long's Grocery Store. There
will be pies, cakes, cupcakes
and candy at the sale.
She said little tilings mean
a lot. Creation is made up of
zillions of little things blended
together to make a beautiful
world. The life of a parent is
a blending of many small yet
important aspects. The more
perfect the parent is in all
things, the more perfect the
child will be to who one teaches
the message of Christ.
A bake sale will be held
March 24 - 25, following the
Masses.
The attendance prize was won
by Mrs. Verlin Henrix.
Attending the meeting were
Mrs. Jerry Hilbig, Mrs. Joe
Probst, Mrs. Adolph Muehr,
Mrs. Martin Goertz, Mrs. Rey-
nold Goertz, Mrs. Verlin Iien-
drix, Mrs. Thomas Goertz,
Mrs. Vernon Bartsch, and Mrs.
Arthur Goertz.
