TODAY OIL AND GAS ARE PRODUCED IN 1<*7 COUNTIES!
Ninety-eight additional counties are receiving the benefits
oi leasing and exploration activities.
Thus in 245 ol Texas' 2b4 counties, business, government, tax collector,
wage earner, farmer and rancher roceive their part ol the oil man's
expenditures every month in the year.
F.ven the dry holes (52 000 drilled lo date at a cost ol a billion dollars)
contributed their share of empl07rr.cn! and wide distribution ol money.
Last year land owners received 50 million dollars in lease rentals and
bonuses alone.
In many counties where oil is a major laclor, local government receives
as much as 90% ol its total tax revonue from the oil business.
Then, too the State collects 45 o ol its tax money (exclusive ol the gasoline
Inx) from the oi! man In 1938 this was 32 million dollars.
