WHAT THE BOND ISSUE
WILL MEAN TO
TAX PAYERS
The tax rate in the citv of Bastrop will be exactly
the same this year as it was last year, if the bond issue, for
the purpose of remodeling the present building and add-
ing a new building to the present school system, is passed.
At a meeting of the city council Tuesday night, the
following arrangement was made, which will take care
of the additional assessment:
The city lax rate for 1938, last year, is shown as
follows:
School Maintainance 75^
School Sinking Fund 25^
General City Purposes 50*
Street Fund 40*
Per $100.00 Valuation
$1.90
Hie city tax rate as set by the council for 19 39 is
shown as follows:
School Maintainance 75*
Sinking Fund 25*
General City Purposes 50*
Street Fund 15*
Per $100.00 Valuation $1.65
Adding the necessary assessment for the school
bonds, which will be 25* per $100.00, the toial tax
rate for this year. 19 39. will be $1.90, or exactly th
same .is la«t year's rate.
! his arrangement is giving the city of Bastrop the
privilege of having a modern up to-date school system
without the burden of any additional taxes.
Keep this in inind on May 2 3. when, you will cast
\our vote either for or against a new school system fot
