THE reason why Lord Raglan has not stormed
Sevastopol, has been mainly owing to the
weak and enfeebled condition of thc Allied Armies,
caused by their unparalleled sufferings in an inhos-
pitable climate. It has now been clearly ascer-
tained to have been produced by tbe absence of
Robertson's Tonic Bitters, which
would have supported and invigorated even the
hardy soldiers, so much that those armies would
have been in a robust and healthy condition and
his lorship could, with ease and elegance, have
effected his object. It is now whispered in certain
circles that thc attention of Her Majesty's Govern-
ment with that of France has been drawn to this
most Important fact, and that commissions from
both Governments will issue to procure a supply
adequate to the wants. We do not know exactiy
how F. T. Duffau, Congress Avenue, Austin,
stands affected in the quarrel, but have no doubt he
will supply them with as much of those invalua-
ble Bltlers for Debility, as he may be able to
spare, after supplying his friends at home with a
sufficient quantity to get through the approaching

NOTICE is hereby given, that tbe work oil the
Extension of "the B. B., B. & C. Railway,
from Stafford's Point to Richmond, is now being
pressed with the utmost vigor by the energetic:
Contractors, Messrs. Kyle k Terry, with a view'
to its completion to the Brazos River in time to
enable the Merchants and Planters to order their
Fall Supplies by tbat route.
The R. R. Company, anxious to accommodate
the public, have ottered their Contractors, in addi-
tion to their contract prices, §100 for each day
the Railroad shall have been completed prior to
October 1st; and the public may rely upon its com-
pletion tcithin the month of September.
With thc completion of this road to Richmond,
the Brazos Bottom and the low, wet Prairie east
of it, will forever cease to be obstacles to the trav-
el and transportation of the West.
Ample Warehouses -re being erected in Harris-
burg and Richmond ; new roads are heing open-
ed to Richmond, and several new bridges have
been built, and others are contemplated, over the
Bernard, kc.
Stages from Richmond, and Steamboats from
Harrisburg, will run regularly in connection with
the Railroad, immediately upon its completion—
thus making a continuous route ftoin Galveston to
Austin and all intermediate points, cheaper, twen-
ty-four hours quicker, andinor3 regular and reli-
able than has ever hitherto existed—the advanta-
ges of which can only be appreciated by expe-
rience.
Merchandise or Supplies for the Interior, design-
ed for transportation ou this route, arriving pre-
vious to September 20th] can be stored in Harris-
burg until ordered to "it forwarded to meet wag-
ons. If desired, goods Will be delivered at the
Station six mlR easSf Richmond, by giving one
day's notice to R. R. Freight Agent, or Consignee
.at Harrisburg' between 20th August and 20th

The Steamboat and Stage ConSbtions with
Railroad and the,. Crossing of tbe Brazos River,
