express train approachiog Batavia,

both the occupants, who were
thrown a no ruber of jarda into the

train was stopped. The engineer^

as possible, and got off the engine
to see what was done. In passing
in front of tbe locomotive, he saw it
covered with blodd and brains, and
was so overcome by the shock that
be walked but a few steps and fell.
He was carried into the smoking
car and died in a few minutes.

Supreme Court of Georgia has de-
cided that tbe iaw forbidding judg-
ment for notes for slaves is nncon -
stitutional, and that nnlesa barred
by the statute of limitations, suoh

court is divided, Judge McCoy dis-
sentiog. Tbe court also decided
in the matter of tbe Atlanta street
railroad war that the company that
got tbe right to use tbe street first
from the city council had priority.
This reverses the decision of the
lower courts.
