THE PIANO CONTEST IS NOW ON J
IN DEAD EARNEST
At Six O'clock P. M.,
MON. FEB. 24
The Democrat's great gift contest will .come
to a close. At the presnt time there is not
much difference in the count for the va=
rious young ladies, and no one can tell who
will come out ahead by the time the con-
test comes to a close. All the young ladies
are working hard and their friends are
earnest in their behalf.
Now is the time for all those who have not
paid up their subscription to renew, as
All Who Have Not Paid For 1908 Will
Be Discontinued
on March ist, announcement of which was
made heretofore in the Democrat. And
again we call attention to the fact that
after
MARCH 1.1908
Every name on the Democrat mailing list
not marked up for 1908 will positively be
discontinued, withont reserve, and no ex-
ceptions will be made. The price of the
Democrat is 50c a year, within reach of all,
and as we have given these valuable prizes
for the purpose of making it convenient for
all subscribers to renew, it is sure some
one of the young ladies in the contest lives
in your neighborhood and will likely see
you. They will appreciate your renewal
as it counts 100 votes, the same as new
subscriptions.
Issue of February 27th
will be the last you will receive if your
renewal is not received at this office be-
fore flarch ist.

Many of the young ladies have made a;
splendid increase in their vote since the count of
December 24th, and it will be noted that Miss!
Sallie Brown cf Prairie Dell is now in the lead
with Miss Maggie Yates a close second. There
are six of them very close together, and tbe J
result is very much in doubt. The time for the |
young ladies to work for these handsome prem-
iums is now short and their friends will do well
to keep this in mind. ^
The Contest Will Close:
MONDAY, FEB. 24
AT SIX O'CLOCK.
There will be no further announcement as
to the standing of the contestants until the final
count on the above date. All the votes will now|
be put in a ballot box, which will be locked and j
the key deposited in the Belton National Bank •
until called for by the judges who will be se-1
lected to make the final count, therefore from j
