A College, hare established therein, the following de-
partment of instruction:
1st. A department of Mathematics, including the usual
college course, with Natural Philosophy and Astronomy.
2d.. A department of Ancient Languages, confined
principally to the lAtiu and Greek Classics.
3d. A department of Rhetoric and Morel Philosophy.
4th. A department of Chemistry, with its application
to the uneful arts.
5th. A department of Civil Engineering, combining
1 heoretfeal study with field operations.
Yonng gentlemen may pursue any, orall ef the *t ndies
of the above departments at their option; but, to be en-
titled to graduate in any one.of them: they must pursue
the full course of study of this department, and pass a
satisfactorr examination en the came.
The collegiate year will commence on the first Monday
. -of October and terminate on the last Wed nendar of July.
The vacations will embrace the months of August and
September and the Christmas liolyilajw.
The aunual commen^ments will be held on the last
■Wednesday of July. Tueyear will be divided intn two
w isions. The Unit will extend from the first Monday of
October to the first of March: the second from the first
Mondav of March to the last Wednesday of .lulv. 'Un-
charge* far tuition will be 820, for each session.
For lectures and experiments in Chemistry, «nd for
instructions in Civil Kngineering, an additional charge
will be made. '
students who confine their attention tn experimental
Chemistry or Civil Engineering, will l>e required to pay
no charge* except in those departments.
A preparatory school is established, in connection
w ith the college, and under the tare of Prof. ])£cauti>.
in which students may pursue all the branches of a
common English education, or qualify themselves to
eater the college classes. The preparatory school is

•education of female*, as well as males, the trustees liJtre
also established therein, a regular collegiate course of
Ftudjr for young lauies. A female school is already in
operation,"connected with the college, and nnder the
rare of Prop, kuOT, with primary and academic classes.
This school will be eontinued; and as fast as the pupils
i i it shall be_quxiifled to enter the colle^iato elates,
ihej will be permitted to do so. Those vonng ladles
who complete the regular collegiate course, wilf be ad-
mitted to full graduation, at the annual comiheuceuients
of the college; and Will be en titled to an appropriate di-
ploma in tMUnnn; of the same. In this department,
as in the other, the rear will commence on* the first
Monday of October, and be divided into two sessions,'
