Ten V-12 Trainees
Left Tuesday For
Midship's Scool
Ten of the Navy boys in the V-12
Unit here left Tuesday for U. S.
Naval Reserve Midshipman School.
The list of boys included W. L.
Boy, R. C. Corns, T. R. Gould, K. W.
Hayes, W. J. Lawrence, D. A. Pear-
son, V. A. Roy, F. W. Seidel, H. G.
Sells, and D. L. Spain.
This group of naval men have
been taking prescribed courses at
Rice. They were all deck candidates
for deck or line officers and had
stated their preference for taking
training in this line rather than in
the. course of engineering. Having
completed all requirements for deck
officers here, they were sent on to
Midshipman School for the commis-
sion as deck officers.

to offer last Wednesday night at
Autry House. Under the able direc-
tion of Tom Machia, and with Mar-
vin Brown at the piano-, the boys
presented a program of widely va-
ried entertainment. The group gave
out with everything in the books,
from Negro spirituals such as "Ride
in the Chariot" with Jerry Rounds
and Bob "Susie" Jaynes in the sole
positions and "Was Ah 'Fraid'", to
a rousing pirate song, "The Song of
the Jolly Roger." The fact that the
boys themselves so obviously en-
joyed the whole affair added im-
measurably to the spirit of things.

Special Tickets
Necessary For
Students' Guests
It has been announced by the Ath-
letic Association that students wish-
ing to bring guests into the Rice
student section must purchase spec-
ial tickets for them. This ruling
becomes effective this Saturday
night. The special tickets will have
"guest ticket" printed on them and
will be on sale at the field house
this afternoon. These tickets must
be purchased before game time and
can not be purchased at the gate.
The maximum amount of tickets
on sale for this week's game will not
exceed £00. This is to allow suffi-
cient space ft>r the students them-
selves! In future games only 200
ticket swill be printed for special
guests with the exception of the
Texas and A. & M. games. There
will be 600 tickets printed for these
two games due to the larger seat-
ing capacity of.Section H which the
students will occupy during those
games.

Owls Face Heavy Line
Plus Experience In
Coming Grid Battle
By Mildred McCall
At 8 p.m. Saturday night the
Rice football team gets its first
real test of the season when the
Randolph Field Ramblers from
San Antonio invade our sta-
dium.
After a smashing victory over
Galveston Army Air Field last Sat-
urday night our Owls are ready to
go. They are in very good condition
and are not making any mistake
about the stiffness of the coming op-
position. Stress during the weeks
drills has been laid on the passing
game—both offensive and defensive.
Our Line-Up
Coach Neely will probably use ap-
proximately the same starters he
sent against Galveston Army Air
Base. This means Bradbeer and Mi-
ner at ends, Howard and Zelsman at
guard, Tate as pivot man, and-
