Head Start Applications
Applications are being accepted for the
2012-2013 school year at J.P. Cowen Early
Childhood Center. Parents may come by
700 W. 4th Street to complete an appli-
cation for their child. Children must be
three years old as of 09/01/12. Parents
should being income verification, proof of
birth, Social Security card, immunization
records, insurance information (Medicaid,
CHIPs or private). Applications are taken
Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to
3:30 p.m. You may call 235-3482 for addi-
tional information.

Meet Mobley
The public is invited to attend a meeting
with new athletic director and head football
coach, Shane Mobley, at noon on Friday,
April 20, at the Sweetwater Country Club.
The hamburger bar will be available (Dutch
treat) for lunch and Coach Mobley will
speak and answer questions following the
meal. Please take the time to come meet (or
get reacquainted) with Coach Mobley and
show your support for Mustang athletics.
Saturday, April 21
NCF Golf Classic
The Nolan County Foundation's annu-
al golf classic for scholarships is set for
Saturday, April 21, at the Sweetwater
Country Club. Registration begins at 8
a.m. with a shot gun start at 9 a.m. A
Scotty Cameron Putter and a Titleist R11S
driver are being drawn for with a 100 slots
board. The putter chances are $5 each and
the driver is $10 each. Each NCF Board
member is actively seeking sponsorship
and players. Call Homer Taylor, NCF direc-
tor at 236-6680 or Don Timni, Club Pro at
235-8093 for additional information.
Garage Sale
Rolling Plains Clinic will be having a
clinic wide garage sale on Saturday, April
21. The garage sale will begin at 7:30 a.m.
in the clinic parking lot at 201 E. Arizona.
Clean-Up Day
Come to Clean-Up Day at Camp Boothe
Oaks on Saturday, April 21 from 8 a.m.
until noon. Bring your work gloves. Lunch
will be provided.

Church Anniversary
Ml . Rose Baptist Church, located at 108
F.K. Williams Avenue in Sweetwater, will be
celebrating their 87th Church Anniversary
at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22.
Friday, April 27
Avondale Baptist Revival
Avondale Baptist Church invites the
greater Sweetwater area to attend their
Spring Revival meetings at the church,
located at 1405 Hoyt Street in Sweetwater
on April 27-29. Services will begin at 7 p.m.
on Friday and Saturday and regular times
on Sunday. There will also be a time for the
ladies to meet at 5 p.m. on Saturday eve-
ning. Rev. John Karl Davis will be preach-
ing and Kevin Shipp will be leading the
music. All are invited and there will be a
nursery provided for all children under the
age of three.
Saturday, April 28
First Annual Bunco Tournament
The first annual Bunco Tournament,
hosted by the Auxiliary to the Sweetwater
Firefighters Association, will be held on
Saturday, April 28, from 6-8 p.m. at the
4th and Elm Church of Christ warehouse.
Deadline for entries is Monday, April 2.

be a great evening of fun with refresh-
ments, prizes, whoops and hollers! There
is a 25 team limit so enter soon. There will
be t-shirts available for sale. Pre-order are
being taken now. Money made at the fund-
raisers will go to help with county victims
that have suffered loss due to fire. If you
would like to help by sponsoring a table,
call the Auxiliary.
Pancake Breakfast
The Lion's Club will be having their
Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 28
from 7-11 a.m. at the corner of Arizona and
Lamar Street. The Lion's Club does this for
the Girl Scouts as a fundraiser. Let them
know how much you appreciate them —
buy tickets for family and buy some extra
tickets to give to another local family. Get
troop tickets from Judy Leighow (236-
6062). Each troop should sell at least ten.
Baby Expo 2012
Everything baby for expectant parents,
families and grandparents will be avail-
able at the Baby Expo 2012 from 11 a.m.
to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, with free
admission at PrimeTime family entertain-
ment center, located at 4541 Loop 322 in
Abilene. There will be free demonstrations,
baby resources and a chance to win a new
baby gift basket valued at over $500 plus
other prizes. All proceeds benefit The Baby
Room at St. Mark's.
Snyder Trade Days
Snyder Trade Days will take place from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 28,
2012, at the Snyder Armory in Towle Park.
The one day event features vendors of all
kinds. They will also be taking donations
for the Make a Wish Foundation.
Monday, April 30
Town Hall Meeting
A town hall meeting with Rep. Susan L.
King will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday,
April 30, 2012, at the Sweetwater Chamber
of Commerce building, located at 810 E.
Broadway.

A benefit account has been set up at
Roscoe State Bank to assist Janice Garrett,
who lost all of her belonging in the fire
at Jack Lambert Apartments on May 15,

Hospice Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are the heart of Hospice and
as little as one hour per week can make a
difference in someone's life. To learn more,

GED Classes
New students are now being accepted
for GED classes. Classes are Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to
noon and Wednesdays and Thursdays from
6-9 p.m. Classes are free and are held at
1200 Henderson in the old PPI building.

Veterans Readjustment
Counseling Services
The Veterans Readjustment Counseling
Services are the community-based profes-
sionals within the VA who welcome home
the war veteran by providing top-quality
compassionate readjustment assistance to
the veteran and their family in order to
facilitate a successful return to civilian life
within their community. They offer indi-
vidual, group, marital and family counsel-
ing to Combat Veterans of all wars and their
families. Counseling is also available to any
Veteran who experienced any form of sexual
harassment or sexual assault while serving
in the military. In addition, bereavement
counseling is afforded to the families who
have lost their service member while on
Active Duty. A Vet Center Counselor will
be available in Sweetwater on Thursdays
beginning in December to better serve
the surrounding community. The Taylor
County Vet Center looks forward to serving
Veterans and their families in this commu-

Men's Downtown Bible Class
Every Sunday, at 9 a.m., the Men's
Downtown Bible Class will meet at the
Masonic Lodge. An invitation is extended
to all men to come and enjoy coffee, do nuts
and worship before church. The Masonic
Lodge is located on the corner of Oak and
4th.
Line Dancing
Beginner line dance classes with Kathy
Arrant will be held at the Elks Lodge in
Sweetwater every Friday night from 7:30-
8:15 p.m., beginning Friday, Aug. 26. Cost
for each class is $6 with a portion of the
proceeds going to help support the Elks
Lodge programs. For more information,
