Band launches flamingos
Shown above are Sweetw ater High School Band students Crysten Ivy and Scott Chase with band director Ross
Grant with part of the flock of flamingos that will be migrating through Sweetwater to raise money for a band
trip to Dallas.
This weekend the Sweetwater High School Band will
begin its "Flamingo Fundraiser." Yards across Sweetwater
will be visited by "Flamingo flocks of band signs." This
fundraiser will benefit the band's trip to Dallas, where they
will perform in the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center,
home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.
For the low price of only $10, Sweetwater residents
may send a "flock of music notes" to a friend's address,
either with a charming note, or anonymously. Folks who
have been "noted" are asked to donate $10 for the flock's
removal, or for just $15, they can send the flock to another
yard of their choice! In addition, "Anti-Flocking Insurance"
can be purchased for $10, which guarantees that no flock
will roost on your lawn as they migrate around Sweetwater
during the course of this fundraising event.
If you would like to join the fun and send a flock to
someone or purchase "Anti-Flocking Insurance," contact
Judith Kitchens at 627-8043. During the daytime hours
on weekdays, please leave a message and your call will be
returned ASAP.

Sweetwater Animal Control currently has three dogs
available for adoption.
One of the adoptable pets is a male catahoula mix. Also
available are two female mixed breed dogs, one white and
one brown. According to Sweetwater's animal control
officer, Don Kite, animals that are picked up are kept for a
minimum of three days, but he tries to keep them from a
week to 10 days.
Dogs and cats are available for adoption for a $15 fee and
the cost of getting the pet vaccinated for rabies.
The pets are required to have their vaccination before
they leave to their new homes.
The pets shown will be available for adoption until next
Wednesday. For those interested in adopting a pet, call
the Sweetwater Animal Shelter at 236-6139. If there is no
answer, just leave a message and they will get back to you
the same day or the next day.
