Saturday, June 8
Jaycees Scramble
The Sweetwater Jaycees will have an
ABCD blind draw scramble on Saturday.
June 18, at Lake Sweetwater golf course.
Cost is $40 per person and includes
lunch. Those participating must be
entered by 8:30 a.m. Tee off will be at 9
a.m. Top "three places pays with awards
for longest drive, closest to pin, as well
as many door prizes. For more informa-

Benefit Brisket Sale
The Sweetwater Firefighters
Association will be having a benefit bris-
ket sale beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday,
June 18, 2011, at the Trinity Baptist
Church fellowship hall. The Association
is looking to purchase wild land gear for
the Sweetwater Fire Department due to
the many recent grass fires in the area.
Each plate will consist of brisket with
all the trimmings. There is no set cost
for the plates, just donations of any
amount.

Mustang Tennis Clinic
A Mustang Tennis Clinic for stu-
dents com ting grades 3-8 will be
held Monday through Thursday, June
20-23, at the Sweetwater High School
tennis courts. The hours of the clinic
will be 8-11 a.m. Students will need to
bring a tennis racquet, water bottle and
sun screen. The cost of the clinic will be

Mustang Golf Camp
A Mustang Gol Camp will be held
Monday through Wednesday, June
20-22, at Sweetwater Country Club from
9-11:30 a.m. each day. Discounts are

SHS Drama Camp
Sweetwater High School will have a
drama camp for students ages 8-14,
from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the
SHS Auditorium, from Monday, June
20 through Friday, June 24. Cost is $50

Free Workshop
The Texas Tech Smal Business
Development Center will conduct a
free workshop on Starting Your Own
Business. This workshop will provide
a basic understanding of how to devel-
op a new business and the legal steps
required to start your own business. This
workshop is Tuesday June 21, from 4-6
p.m. The workshop will take place in the
Texas Tech Conference room located on
the 6th floor of the Enterprise Building,
500 Chestnut. Seating is limited for this

Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy iSL class will
meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22,
at the County-City Library. Instructors
will help you learn to read, improve
your reading skills, improve you English
skills or help you read to your children.

Origami Story Time
There will be a special program at the
County-City Library at 10 a.m. for story
time on Wednesday, June 22. There will
be an origami class for ages four years to
fifth gn e. Terri Minami from Abilene
will teach the art or origami.
Immunization Fun Day
The 11th annual Immunization Fun
Day, a special day for children, will be
hefd from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4:30
p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at
the Sweetwater-Nolan County Health
Department, located at 301E. 12th Street
in Sweetwater. Parents of children enter-
ing Kindergarten and seventh grade are
reminded to get their children's required
shots before school begins if you have
not done so. Each child will receive a
balloon, sticker and mire. Also, parents
will get a chance to win a $50 gas card.
The purpose of Immunization Fun Day
is to make it a special day for the chil-
dren who are receiving vaccinations and
stress the importance of having their
immunizations up-to-date.

Story Hour
Story Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children will be
held at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, June
23, Library staff will lead the parents
and children in stories and songs. Call

Tennis Event
Sweetwater will host a Black Gold
Tennis Circuit Challenger event on June
24-25. Entry fee is $25. Players may
enter up to two events, including one sin-
gles and one doubles. Entries must be in
the hands of tournament director Sheila
Arnwine at least seven days before the
tournament begins. Events will be held
in boys and gi I singles, boys and girls
doubles and mixed doubles. More infor-

Saturday, June 25
Origami Class
Terry Minami from Abilene will return
to the County-City Library at 10 a.m. on
Saturday, June 25, to teach an origami
class for ages four years old to adults.
RPMH Yard Sale
Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital will
be having a yard sale to help fund the
nursing scholarship. The yard sale will
take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on
Saturday, June 25, 2011, at the corner
of Neff and Arizona. Hospital employ-
ees are donating all kinds of items and
lots of clothes. Call 235-6572 to donate
items.
Kids Fishing Tournament
The second annual Kids Fishing
Tournament at Lake Sweetwater will
take place from 8-11 a.m. on Saturday,
June 25. There will be four ages groups
ranging from ages 3-16. Each group will
have winners for big fish, small fish and
most outstanding angler. Awards will be
presented at 11 a.m. Hot dogs, chips and
drinks will be provided for competitors
during awards. Entry fee is $5.
Sunday, June 26
Avondale Baptist VBS
Avondale Baptist Church will be host-
ing their Vacation Bible School from
June 26-29. It begins on Sunday night
and concludes with family night on
Wednesday, June 29. The times are
from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The Theme is:
"Hooked On Jesus." The VBS director is
Kevin Shipp. There will be crafts, music,
games, snacks and Bible stories. Hooked
on Jesus is for pre-school through fifth
grades. For more information, call the

church is located at 1405 Hoyt Street.
Tuesday, June 28
Volleyball Summer League
The 2011 Sweetwater Volleyball
Summer League will be held Tuesday
nights this summer and will begin
Tuesday, June 28. This will be held
mainly at the Sweetwater High School
new and old gyms. League age groups
will for the 2011-12 school year and are
as follows: grades 7-8, ninth/JV and
varsity. Also, a tournament be held
Tuesday, July 19 at the same locations.
This is an opportunity for all volleyball
players to get some a< litional volleyball
experience. The entry fee will be $25 per
player, and all checks should be made
out to Sweetwater Summer Volleyball.

Fourth of July Parade
The Sweetwater Lions Club will
sponsor the annual 4th of July parade
Monday, July 4, beginning at 9 a.m. at
the Nolan County Courthouse and end-
ing at Newman Park. The Sweetwater
Municipal Band will perform and a
patriotic speech will fc ow. Interested
participants may obtain an entry form
from robertpeterson1953@yahoo.com.
