Sweetwater Rifle & Pistol Club
Scholarship
Each year the Sweetwater Rifle and
Pistol Club awards scholarship to a gradu-
ating senior from each of the four high
schools in Nolan County This year's award
is $1,000 paid to the college the recipient
chooses. Interested students need to see
their respective counselors soon as the
deadline for the application to be returned
to the Sweetwater Rifle and Pistol Club is
Friday, April 29, 2011.
Benefit Dance
The Guadalupana Society will have a
benefit dance featuring Thoze Guy/, on
Saturday, April 30, at the Knights of
Columbus hall in Sweetwater. Cost is $10
per ticket. For more information, call Aida

Saturday, April 30
Fire Recovery Fundraiser
A fire recovery fundraiser fish fry meal
and benefit auction, sponsored jointly by
the local civic clubs, will be held for the
families that lost their homes in the grass
fire in Mitchell County. The event will
be held on Saturday, April 30, at the
Railhead building in Downtown Colorado
City. The meal will begin at 5 p.m. and an
auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. Meal tick-
ets are a minimum donation of $8 and can
be purchased from any Lions, Rotary or
Kiwanis Club member in Colorado City or
stop by one of the financial institutions in
Colorado City. The meal will include fish
or brisket, potato salad, french fries, hush
puppies, red beans, coleslaw, dessert and
tea. All funds raised from the raffle tickets,
auction items purchased and meal tickets
will be deposited to the account set up at
City National Bank for the unmet needs
of the local fire victims. All expenses have
been paid or donated.
Garage Sale
The Friends of the Library will have
a garage sale at 8 a.m. in the garage at
the rear of the County-City Library on
Saturday, April 30. All proceeds will ben-
efit the County-City Library. For more

Brisket Sandwich Sale
Lamar Street Baptist Church will have
a brisket sandwich sale at Wal-Mart on
Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Proceeds will go toward a mission trip this
summer.
Elks Lodge
The Sweetwater Elks Lodge will
have a Pay Per View of the UFC 129
Championships fight between Jake Shields
and George St. Pierre on Saturday* April
30. Doors open at 6 p.m. and there will be
a $5 cover charge.
NATC Mototrials
The Central Texas Trials Association
will be hosting the first and second rounds
of the NATC Mototrials on Saturday, April
30 and Sunday, May 1 at the Texana
Ranch, located 1.5 miles West of 2191
Ross Road in Blackwell. Gate fee is $5
per person for each day. For more infor-

Singing Women of West Texas
The Singing Women of West Texas
will perform in concert on Sunday eve-
ning. May 1, at 6 p.m. at Trinity Baptist
Church here in Sweetwater. The Singing
Women (SWOWT) is a non-profit cho-
ral ministry funded entirely by dona-
tions from members and others. Trinity
Baptist Church is located at 1506 Santa Fe
(the corner of Hailey & Santa Fe Streets)
in Sweetwater. Everyone is invited to

Revival
The Sweetwater Church of God, on the
corner of 4th and Pine, will be having
a revival from Sunday, May 1 through
Wednesday* May 4. Guest speaker will
be Texas Church of God Administrative
Bishop T. Wayne Dority. Service times
on Sunday will follow the regular Sunday
schedule for services, while Monday
through Wednesday's service starts at 7

Big Country Dance
The Big Country Dance will be held from
7:30-10:30 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011,
at the Nolan County Coliseum Annex.
Admission is $5 per person and Exit 249
will provide the entertainment.
NCBR Scholarship
This year the NCBR has again decided
to offer four $500 scholarships. Any inter-
ested 2011 high school graduates, may pick
up an official application for this scholar-
ship at their high school counselor's office
or at the office of Morgan Real Estate, at
217 Oak Street in Sweetwater. All applica-
tions for the NCBR scholarship must to
be returned to the office of Morgan Real
Estate on or before May 2, 2011.
Tuesday, May 3
Sweetwater Christian School
Sweetwater Christian School will have
their annual Spring program at 6:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, May 3, in the fellowship hall
of First United Methodist Church. The
public is invited to attend,
SHS Scholarship Assembly
Sweetwater High School will host the
annual senior scholarship assembly on
Tuesday, May 3 at 9:45 a.m. in the high
school auditorium. Parents and commu-
nity members are invited to attend. During
this assembly, Senior scholarship winners
will be announced and recognized by many
local organizations and clubs.
Let's Talk Books
Let's Talk Books, the book club of the
County-City Library, will meet at noon on
Tuesday, May 3, in the meeting room. The
book selection is Shanghai Girls by Lisa
See, Sack lunches will be provided for the
first 12 people for a $4 donation. Call 235-

Diabetes Outreach
The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital
Diabetes Outreach program will be hay-
ing a support group meeting at 2 p.m. on
Tuesday, May 3, in the conference room
(front entrance of hospital). Those attend-
ing will be exchanging recipes.
Wednesday, May 4
Chamber Coffee
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce
will hold a special volunteer coffee event
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday;, May 4, at the
Pioneer Museum.
Roscoe Brown Bag
Roscoe will have its Brown Bag distribu-
tion from 3:30-5 p.m. on Wednesday, May
4, 2011, at Roscoe First United Methodist
Church.
Thursday, May 5
National Day of Prayer
In honor of the National Day of Prayer,
the Ministerial Alliance is hosting a 12
hour prayer vigil at the Sweetwater Prayer
Center at 1418 Hailey Street. The com-
munity is invited to join any time from 7
a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 5. Prayer
stations will be set up following the 7X7
prayer model providing opportunities to
pray for government, education, church,
family, media, business and military.
Rolling Plains TRTA
The Rolling Plains TRTA will have their
regular monthly meeting on Thursday, May
5, at the Sweetwater Country Club. The
meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a
meal and will incl ude a program and busi-
ness meeting.
Friday, May 6
Relay Bake Sale
Roscoe State Bank will have a bake sale
beginning at 8 a.m. and ending when
they are sold out on Friday, May 6. They
will also be having cook books made by
the employees of Roscoe State Bank and
chances for a gift basket filled with items
donated by numerous merchants. The
drawing 1 be held at 5 p.m. on Friday for
the gift basket, in time for Mother's Day on
May 8. All proceeds will benefit the Relay
For Life cancer walk on June 3.
Saturday, May 7
Benefit Dance
A benefit dance will be held for Danny
Maldonado from 8 p.m. to midnight on
Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Knights
of Columbus Hall. Cost will be $10 per
person or $15 per couple. Entertainment
will be provided by Tommy 0. and the
All Star Jam Band, Thoze Guyz with spe-
cial appearances by Angelique and Rick
Molina of Lubbock.
Softball Tournament
A Softball tournament will be held
Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Rio Concho
Complex in San Angelo. Divisions include
Men's D/E and co-ed with USSSA
Sanctioned/Certified officials and USSSA
points awarded to top teams. Entry fee is
$135 per team (pay at the plate for offi-
cials) and deadline to enter a team and pay
the fee is Sunday, May 1, 2011, no excep-
tions. First through third place teams will
be awarded. There will be double elimi-
nation and one game championship. For
