Community Calendar
Roscoe Elementary Book Fair
The Roscoe Elementary Book Fair will
be open each day, Monday, April n,
through Friday, April 15, from 7-7:30
a.m.; 11 a.m. to noon; and 4-4:30 p.m. It
will also open on Tuesday evening from
6-8 p.m. Parents who attend the Book
Fair at noon are invited to eat lunch free
of charge with their student. There are
books for all ages. All proceeds go to
furnish new books for the elementary
library. The Book Fair is located in the
Elementary Building. For more informa-
tion call 766-3323.
Wednesday, April 13
Lenten Lunch
The Nolan County Ministerial Alliance
will host a Lenten soup and sandwich
lunch at noon on Wednesday, April 13,
at Faith Lutheran Church, located at
1607 Josephine. Soup and drinks will
be provided by Faith Lutheran Church
and sandwiches wil be provided by St.
Stephen's Episcopal Church. The chil-
dren from Sweetwater Christian School
will sing. A short Lenten devotional will
be presented at the end of the meal. All of
Nolan County is invited.
Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13 it the
County-City Library. Instructors will help
you learn to read, improve your reading
skills, improve your English skills or help
you read to your children. Call 235-4978

Thursday, April 14
Lake Sweetwater Golf
The Lake Sweetwater Golf Association
will be holding a meeting in the dining
area of the LaQuinta Hots located at 500
N.W. Georgia Avenue, Sweetwater, Texas
at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011, to
discuss the upcoming April 16, tourna-
ment, All members are encouraged to
attend.
Story Hour
Story Hour at the County-City Library
for parents and their children will be
held at io:z a.m on Thursday, April 14.
Library staff will lead the parents and

Elks Lodge
The Sweetwater Elks Lodge will have
live music with Ace's Over 8's. Doors
open at 6 p.m. and the band starts at 9
p.m. There will be a $5 cover charge.
Library Book Sale
The annual County-City Library book
sale will be held at the Nolan County
Coliseum Annex from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
on Friday, April 15, and from 8 a.m. to 3
p.m. on "Saturday, April 16. All proceeds
will benefit the library.

Benefit Golf Scramble
A golf scramble to benefit Nolan County
high school graduates to attend any Texas
college will be held on Saturday, April 16,
with registration at 8 a.m. and shotgun
tee time at 9 a.m. The event, sponsored
by the Nolan County Foundation, named
in honor of Jere Lawrence, one of the
Nolan County Foundation founders, will
take place at the Sweetwater Country

Easter Egg Hunl
The Sweetwater High School Spanish
Club will host an Easter egg hunt at
10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, at the
Sweetwater High School track for chil-
dren ages Kindergarten through third
grade only. Raffle baskets will also be
available with cost being one ticket for $1
or six tickets for $5.
3DArchery Shoot
The Sweetwater Bow Hunter's
Association will sponsor a 3D archery
shoot on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday,
April 17, 2011, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
each day. A 810 shooting fee covers both
days and military and youth shoot free.
There will be 30 targets at the hunting
ranges plus three silent auctions on used
3D targets. There will be no awards, no
classes, just shooting for fun and fel-
lowship Some basic equipment will be
provided for beginners/intermediates if
needed. For more information, call Mike

Roscoe Spring Fling
The first annual Spring Fling Coloring
Contest and Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest
will be held in downtown Roscoe at the
Roscoe Emporium on April 16. Coloring
contest entries must be submitted to
the Roscoe Emporium no later than
Saturday, April 9, Coloring contest sheets
will be distri buted throughout the school
for those interested in participating. The
coloring contest will be judged by grade
level with a boy and girl winner each
in grades first through fifth. For the
sidewalk chalk art contest, squares must
be reserved at the Roscoe Emporium
no later than Saturday, April 9 (limited
squares available). This contest is open to
students of all ages. One winner in each
grade level will be chosen from all entries
in the competition. Judging will start at 5
p.m. and the winners will be announced
at 6 p.m. Local artists are also invited to
bring a 1 showcase their artwork ,s a
room will be reserved at no cost. All are
invited to attend.
Friday, April 22
School Day
Friday, April 22, 2011 will be a regu-
lar school day for Sweetwater ISD. "rhe
schools will be using this day as a make
up day for the bad weather in February.
Regular school hours will be observed.
Roosters Motorcycle Rally
The 10th annual Sweetwater Jaycees
Roosters Motorcycle Rally and cook off
will be held at the Lake Sweetwater RV
campgrounds Friday, April 22 through
Sunday, April 24. Cooking contestants
pay $80, biker registration will >e $20,
general admission is $5 and children 12
and under are free. There will be a cook
)ff, poker run, raffles, bike games and
live music.
Saturday, April 23
Free Movie
The Plainview Church of Christ of
Colorado City will host a free movie at
i:t5 P-m. on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at
M3 Palace Theater. 137 Walnut Street,
in Colorado City. A free showing of epic
movie, "The Ten Commandments,"
will take place the day before Easter in
Colorado City.
Co-Ed Softball Tournament
The Blackwell Consolidated
Youth Association will be hosting a
Co-Ed Softball Tournament in Bronte
on April 23. Players must be 16 or older
to enter. Entry fee is $10 per person.
T-shirts will be given to the first and sec-
ond place teams, as well as plaques for
the men's and women's homerun derby
champions. RV hookups are available,
but limited. RSVP for tournament entry

Tuesday, April 26
AARP Driving Class
An AARP driver safety training class
is scheduled for Tuesday, April 26,
2011, at 1701 Elm Street in Sweetwater.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and class
is from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. This is a
new four-hour class. It is >r people 50
years of age and older and is designed
for age-re ited problems such as ptli
perception, reaction time and other driv-
ng skills. Driving on local and interstate
highways is also covered. A certificate
valid for three years is given on comple-
tion and may qualify the driver for a dis-
count on car insurance. The cost for the
course is $12 for AARP members (mem-
bership card required) and $14 for non-
AARP members. Call SNAP at 236-6344

Saturday, May 7
Softball Tournament
A softball tournament will be held
Saturday. May 7, 2011, at Rio Concho
Complex in San Angelo. Divisions
include Men's D/E and co-ed with USSSA
Sanctioned/Certified officials and USSSA
points awarded to top teams. Entry fee
is $135 per team pay at the plate for
officials) and deadline to enter a team
and pay the fee is Sunday, May 1, 2011,
no exceptions. First through third place
teams will be awarded. There will be dou-
ble elimination and one game champion-

Cars and Stars
An open class car show will take place
on Saturday, May 7, on the largest down-
town square in America, in Graham. The
show starts at 3 p.m., followed by a cruise
at 7:30 p.m., ending with a movie at
Graham Drive In at 1:30 p.m. For more
