Monday, Aug. 2
Big Country Dance
The Big Country Dance will be held
from 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug.
2, 2010, at the Nolan County Coliseum
Annex. Admission is $5 per person and
entertainment will be provided by Muddy
Creek.
Jump Rope Camp
Jump Rope Camp will be Aug. 2-4
for students that have completed first
through fourth grade. Please contact
Rajeania Pittman if you are interested in
attending at 235-8872 or 338-4342.
Soccer Registration
Sweetwater Youth Soccer registra-
tion will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on
Monday, Aug. 2 and Tuesday, Aug. 3, at
the Jaycees Annex, located at 1001 Crane
Street. There will be no late registration.
Sweetwater Youth Soccer is open to boys
and girls between the age of 4-12 years
of age. The soccer season will start on
Saturday, Sept. 11. Registration is $45
per child and $40 for each additional
sibling. Call Mindy Bowen at 325-725-

Volleyball Camp
Volleyball camp will take place on
Monday, Aug. 2, at the Sweetwater
Middle School gym, located at 305 Lamar
Street. Camp hours will be 9-11:30 a.m.
Monday through Friday for this upcom-
ing years sixth and seventh graders
and from 1-3:30 p.m. Monday through
Thursday for students in this years
upcoming fourth and fifth grades. Camp
fee is $30 and includes a T-shirt. A con-
cession stand will be open for snacks and
drinks. Pre-registration is greatly appre-

Jury Cancelled
The jury call for Tuesday, Aug. 3, in the
32nd judicial court has been cancelled.
Let's Talk Books
Let's Talk Books, the book club of the
County-City Library will meet at noon
on Tuesday, Aug. 3, in the meeting room
of the library. The book selection is a
tribute to Elmer Kelton. Share one of his
books with the group. Sack lunches will
be provided for the first 12 people for a

Wednesday, Aug. 4
Adult Literacy/ESL
The Adult Literacy/ESL class will meet
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at the
County-City Library. Instructors will help
you learn to read, improve your reading
skills, improve your English skills or help

Chamber Coffee
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce
coffee event will take place at 10 a.m.

Brown Bag
The Methodist Church in Roscoe will
be having its Brown Bag distribution on
Wednesday, Aug. 4, from 3-5 p.m.
Diabetes Outreach
The Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital
Diabetes Outreach Program will be doing
blood screenings for diabetes and blood
pressure readings from 8 a.m. to noon on
Wednesday, Aug. 4,2010, at Immaculate
Heart of Mary parish hall. Everyone is
welcome. Information on diabetes and
blood pressure will be provided. Coffee
will be served.
Softball Camp
The West Texas Heat softball camp will
be held Wednesday, Aug., 4, Thursday,
Aug. 5, and Friday, Aug. 6. The first ses-
sion will be from 5-7 p.m. for ages six
and up and eight and up each day. The
second session will be from 7-9 p.m. for
ages 10 and up and 12 and up each day.
Registration will be 30 minutes before
each session at the Jerry Collins Complex
in Sweetwater. Cost is $35 for the first
child, $30 for the second sibling and
$25 for the third sibling. The camp will
cover hitting, bunting, fielding, running
bases, catching and will provide indi-
vidual instruction for each participant.
All campers will receive a T-shirt. The
camp will be coached by Terry Clemmer,
Danny carrion and the West Texas Heat

Thursday, Aug. 5
Story Hour
Story Hour will be held at 10:45 a.m.
on Thursday, Aug. 5, at the County-City
Library for parents and their children,
ages babies through preschool ages.
Library staff will lead the parents and

Friday, Aug. 6
Season Ticket Renewal
Reserved season football tickets for the
2010 season are up for renewal to cur-
rent option holders beginning Monday,
July 19, through Friday, Aug. 6. Tickets
may be purchased at the Sweetwater
Independent School District administra-
tion office. Summer hours are Monday
through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Tickets are $30 for five home games.
Ticket sales for the general public will go
on sale Monday, Aug. 9. The last day to
purchase season tickets will be Friday,
Aug. 20. Tickets will be sold during
regular business hours. For more infor-
mation, contact the SISD administration
office at 235-8601 ext. 116.
SNAP Garage Sale Donations
Donations are needed to ensure that
SNAP can have a successful garage
sale. All proceeds will benefit SNAP.
Donations can be made at 1701 Elm and
are asked to be made by Friday, Aug. 6.

Saturday, Aug. 7
Nolan Baptist Church
Nolan Baptist Church will celebrate
its 120th anniversary beginning with a
prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday,
Aug. 7, and will end with a luncheon
immediately following the Sunday ser-
vice on Aug. 8, with many surprises in
between. For those needing hotel accom-
modations, special arrangements have
been made with Holiday Inn Express and
Suites and Ranch House.
Monday, Aug. 9
Pre-K Registration
J.P. Cowen will be having Pre-K regis-
tration, for 2010-2011 school year from
8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 9,
Tuesday, Aug. 10, and Wednesday, Aug.
11. To register, the child must be four
years old by Sept. 1 and parents will need
to bring birth certificate, social secu-
rity card, shot record, proof of income
(last two recent check stubs), proof of
residence and food stamp case number
if applicable.
Football Equipment Handout
Football equipment will be handed out
on Monday, Aug. 9, from 4-6 p.m. at the
Sweetwater Middle School new gym.
Prayer Walk
Sweetwater Aglow will host the annual
Back-to-School Prayer Walk on Tuesday,
Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m. at Lighthouse
Assembly of God Church, 412 Newman
Street. There will be a short time of
praise and worship led by Brenda Sharp
and speaker will be James Smith, Youth
Minister from Lighthouse Assembly of
God. Participants will then break up into
groups and go out and cover the area
schools with prayer. Refreshments will
be served in the fellowship hall after the
prayer walk. Everyone is invited to come
and support local schools and children.

Match Making and Contracting
Opportunity Forum
The United States Small Business
Administration (SBA) Lubbock District
Office invites the public to partici-
pate in the Abilene Match Making and
Contracting Opportunities Forum. The
forum will include information regard-
ing Surety Bond, HUBZone, 8(a), and
TXDot. Find out how you can tap the
government market to improve your
small business' profit margin. The forum
will be at Elegante Suites in Abilene,
located at 4250 Ridgemont Drive on
Thursday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There is no charge for the forum.

World Breastfeeding Celebration
Outreach Health Services will have
food, drinks, fun and games at their
world breastfeeding celebration from 1-3
p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Holy
Family Catholic Church hall, located at

Friday, Aug. 20
New Teachers Luncheon
The Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce
will be hosting the annual New Teachers
Luncheon from noon to 1:30 p.m. on
Friday, Aug. 20, at The Center of the
Sweetwater campus of Texas State
Technical College. New teachers and
administrators from all Nolan County
schools are invited to attend. Contact the

Diabetes Walk
The Walk for Diabetes will be held
Saturday, Sept. 25 at Hutchinson School
from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up will be
on Thursday, Sept. 23, at Fuller Foods
in Colorado City. Donations of $7.50 are
needed. This will be the first Diabetes
Walk for Colorado City supported by the
American Diabetes Association, Jimmy
Huff Ministries, Fuller Foods, Colorado
Record and KVMC Radio. All donations
will go to the Diabetes Association.
