Obituary
Mary L. Riley was born November 6,1942, to Charles C. and Smithie
Sutton Andrews. She attended the public schools of San Antonio. She
received her Bachelors of Arts Degree from Drake University, Des
Moines, Iowa, where she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
and participated in the Fencing Club.
She moved to San Francisco where she married Jerry Glenn Anderson.
From that union was born Lance Anderson, who preceded her in death.
As an employee of IBM, she rose to the position of manager of the
research facility in Harrison, N.Y.
She later married Melvin Riley of Zachery, Louisiana. She remained in
New York State until she contracted a cancer which would eventually
still her spirit.
She spent her final months in the bosom of her family in San Antonio.
On Friday, September 3rd, 1993, she was taken peacefully to God's
eternal rest.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her father and step-mother, Dr.
Charles and Darlene Andrews; two brothers and sister-in-laws, Charles
and Thelma Andrews, Samuel and Pamela Andrews; two nephews and
one niece, Michael Andrews, Charles and Valencia Andrews; seven
aunts, Lillian Sutton Taylor, Cora Mary Jackson, Essie M. Sutton, Renee
Sutton, Leatrice Sutton, Lou Nelle Sutton and Muldro Andrews; three
uncles, A.C. Sutton, Percy Sutton, and Grandvel Jackson; one step-son,
Todd Anderson; one godchild, Tiffany Childs; numerous cousins and a
host of friends.
