Life History of
Gracious Lady Aileen Dorn Lorans
July 30 1918 October 30, 2001
Aileen Dorn Lorans was born in Luling, Texas on July 30,1918 to Tom and
Rachel (McCowan) Dorn. She attended schools in Luling and San Antonio,
Texas.
On November 1, 1947, Aileen was united in marriage in San Antonio to
Emanuel Lorans of Nachitoches, Louisiana. She was at his side as a faithful
wife for 54 years of marriage. Shortly after her marriage she joined the
Catholic Church. She has been an active member of Holy Redeemer since
1962. Aileen, as a homemaker in a military family for 22 years, traveled
extensively with her husband as he served in the United States Army and the
United States Air Force in Word War II (Europe and Pacific) and the United
States. Aileen retired as an Executive Housekeeper at the Holiday Inn.
Aileen loved life and lived it to the fullest. She served her church, Holy
Redeemer, well and in many different capacities She was an active member
of the Ladies' Sodality; Myrtle Marie Gardiner Chapter #21, Fourth Degree
Ladies of Grace, Knights of Peter Claver; as a volunteer on Tuesdays in the
Holy Redeemer Nutrition Program for the past 15+ years, she worked for
many years with Metro Alliance to insure that the residents of the East Side
of San Antonio experience a decent quality of life. In addition to her Church
involvement, she belonged to many civic and social organizations. She was a
proud member of the American Legion Post #828 Ladies' Auxiliary Her
social club involvement included but was not limited to* The Gypsy Girls
Club; the Smart Set Club Auxiliary; the Duke and Duchess Social and Civic
Club; Metropolitan Club; Gamma Phi Iota Chapter, Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.
Aileen was a caring person and fulfilled her responsibilities as a Christian
well. She was a devoted niece who was a caregiver for her aunt and her
cousin.
She leaves to celebrate her life a devoted husband of 54 years, Emanuel
Lorans, a granddaughter Rosa Ann Munoz (Ramon); a grandson James
Coleman, one great-granddaughter Desiree Ann Mufioz; a niece Joyce Jones
(Norman); a great nephew Ben Taylor; Eloise King, a dear friend; all of San
Antonio. Other nieces and nephews, the Holy Redeemer Family and the Peter
Claver Family She was preceded in death by her parents Rachel and Tom
Dorn and her sister Rachel Carter, and a daughter Charlotte Ann Lorans.
